Slightly off topic, but can anyone explain the rationale behind this crazy delayed flagging for offsides?
Ronaldo there, runs the whole length of the half, shoots and then the linesman flags. Why the delay? It’s a waste of playing time.

I could be chatting wham but I'm pretty sure it's to stop occurences where someone actually is on side and they could have scored.

So they leave it, the play happens, player scores or misses, then it's ruled out. VAR can overturn etc.
