Guardiola to be found out in the premier league

Pep is clearly a tremendous manager but I think people go way overboard. In the last month I've heard that he launched Toni Kroos career (Kroos was a fantastic player and key to a CL winning side the year before Pep arrived) and that his Bayern team's tactics were the key to Germany getting over the hump to win the World Cup (a huge reach even before factoring in he only went to Bayern 10 months before the tournament and he couldn't have revolutionized an entire country's style that quick.) It's just strange how people think they have to give credit to Pep for everything. He's done plenty and there is more than enough to praise him for without going crazy.

Also not sure he's doing the youngsters at City any favors right now. Zinchenko was a promising central midfielder who was turned into a wingback out of necessity, Foden isn't improving by coming on when they're 4-0 up and playing an occasional midweek game and that also goes for a bunch of their other young players. Not that it really matters to City if any of them actually work out. But from a player's standpoint I can't decide if going to City at a young age and getting into the world class facilities is worth it if you almost certainly won't get the game time once you get to a stage that you need it.
A reach indeed, as it was quite the opposite, Germany looked flaky in that world cup until they abandoned pepball and put lahm back to full back and got schweinsteiger back in the team, then actually played more like a heynekes team. They reverted to pepball at 2018, and paid the price.

Complete nonsense tbh. They snap up young kids, give them a great education both on and off the field and if they don't make it to the first team they sell them. The academy isn't just about bringing in players to the first team, it's another revenue stream. City make a tidy profit every year from selling young players. Any kid not good enough to make it in football will at least have had the benefit of a public school education.
yeah I know city really look after the kidS and their families. They pick up a mate of mine and his lad up in a luxury van every week for training and I know the foreign kids get a great education. But the one in 400 came from someone who works at city . It’s probably not that much different at Everton in terms of turnover.

It's incredibly hard to break into this City side. It's not that long ago we had Micah Richards, Stephen Ireland, Michael Johnson, Daniel Sturridge, Ched Evans, Lee Croft playing in the first team, all academy graduates. When you look at the first team now, players like Foden and Diaz have players like David Silva and KDB in front of them. Almost impossible for them to claim a spot.

Good grief, some guys who have really struggled with life in that list, shows how vital the mental side of the game is to get to the top

Yeah, he is in good form, no doubt. But he strikes me as a player that will deliver in a talented squad, rather than one could elevate a less talented one. If that makes sense.
There always seems to be a caveat when people talk about Sterling. It used to be "no end product" but that stopped when he started banging them in.
The current one is " He's only good because of the players around him". Honesty don't know why people can't give him the credit he deserves. He's still only 23 and his improvement over the last 18 months has been brilliant.
I still think he can get better. Not sure what people will say if he does go up another level. 'Hes only decent cos Pep tells him what to do dyring games with a secret earpiece. Without he'd spend 90 minutes biting the corner flag'.

I agree people should give him a bit more respect. But I do think it's worth pointing out that him and also Sane put together many more goals and assists in the City team than they do with their national teams. Both are good players but the support from midfield gives them so many opportunities to make things happen that it has to be mentioned.

I think he gets far too much stick in an England shirt. He's often their best player and if he fluffs a chance the commentary, especially if they have a link to LFC, are invariably screaming for him to be subbed. When he does get subbed England tend to look poorer.
There's also the added pressure of being in an England shirt. Lets not forget how he was booed by England fans for having the temerity to want to better his career and leave Liverpool. If he makes a mistake at City, the fans will sing his song. If he makes one in an England shirt he knows the boos will start and everyone on the commentary team will be screaming for him to be subbed. He's on a hiding to nothing with England. It's not surprising he isn't as effective when he plays for them.

I don't follow England that closely so I don't know about all of that stuff as much as you do. I did watch their World Cup games and he was not good but neither was England's attack on the whole. I like Raheem a lot but you're not being honest if you think he would produce a similar level in any team.

Didn't say that. No player can win everything on his own, well maybe Maradona. My point was he deserves more credit instead of people always trying to make excuses to bring him down.
