Guardiola to be found out in the premier league

I am a tad surprised that it's a 2 year extension as opposed to a 1 year deal. I suspect
you are correct that the 2 years is linked with Messi coming for 2 years then off to
America. I really don't know which way I feel about Messi coming (if he does) to be truthful.
Fantastic for the profile of the club world wide and it will absolutely boil the urine of both
United and Liverpool (which is always good) but not so sure from a footballing perspective.
If Messi has the control and influence he has had at Barca then it could easily all end in tears.
Then again it could be like the influence that Cantona had when he arrived at United and winning
the title. The same for us in the CL? I wonder how much the City season tickets will go up when we are
all allowed back in the stadiums next season? On balance I will be more happier than not if
Messi arrives. I remember not that long ago, travelling to Wycombe, York, Macclesfield and
Notts County away. Now Messi is about to rock up at the Etihad wearing a City shirt. Bizarre!

I think it is huge for city, not to be provactive, the ownsership are desperate for the marquee signing and what that brings with it.

Obviously cliche, but can he genuinely do it "on a windy night in stoke" at this stage of his career though? Either way - really really looking forward to seeing him every week, I hope he signs in Jan

Jose moanino had him off tonight, just like Klopp, they have got him and his side sussed now. Think shitteh only gave him the 2 y extension, to try and get little Leo Messi in next year.

Peps just not good enough defensively - he's had years to sort them out and he hasn't - they used to score loads so didn't worry, but without the class of aguero they are done.

Bit harsh there IMO. One of the league's best defences til Kompany left.

Only if he exercises the optional 2nd year, else it is simply a 1 year deal - precisely why I say it has also been reported that it is 1+1
Yes but that's the nature of contracts. Terms will be agreed on a second year and just conditional on him giving the green light. Different from a simple 1 year deal surely.

Kompany was a great defender and captain, whos mere presence sorted out many of city's defensive issues, but I still don't accept that they were great defensively - they just used to pass teams to death and overwhelm them, which they don't do anymore.

They always give the opposition chances, especially when he picks the likes of otamendi and Walker time after time, who are just bad defenders.

Paying massive money for the likes of Ake as Vinnie's replacement is also just bad business/management, defensivley.
