in this trigger friendly crazy world, i know it won't happen, but does he deserve the sack this season?

£50m on stones, £40m on sane, £30m on jesus, £23m on gundogan, £15m on Nolito, £15m on bravo taking over a team who would have been title favourites, champions league semi finalists.

His result: no trophies, two bottled semis against weaker teams, a short CL run and may not even get in the top 4. Everyone keeps saying they'll get there, but bloddy hell, they just shipped 2 against middlesborough! I think that's only happened about twice all season, he's an uter fraud, they look massively worse. He'll be lucky to keep his job in the summer and if he sells aguero i will laugh my bollocks off.

If he sells Aguero I'd give him Lukaku and Barkley for him

This has honestly got nothing to do with my dislike for Barcelona. I just don't think his management style is as great as made out at all. Watching City, I think that the football they play is suicidal most of the time, a bit like Martinez managing us.

It worked well at Barca undeniably, but with slightly lower quality players it is not as effective. You need the execution to be perfect at all times in order to be successful with his game plan. Or altenatively, you need the opposition to be a bit more lax in their own attitude and style. At Barca, he had truly world class players, and played against teams that didn't have the same physicality or speed to their game, simply due to a differing footballing culture. Ergo, he was extremely successful.

To be fair they did look imperious in the first dozen games or so. They lost key players (Gundogen, plus DeBruyne who hasn't come back firing since his return)...and the dip in quality (as you touched upon) with the replacements means their high risk play doesn't come off. The midfield is key to his system...especially the deep lying midfielder where he builds his teams from (Xavi at Barca, Lahm at Bayern)...without a great one the whole thing doesn't function. As you say Pep's style works brilliantly so long as the talent is there to execute it. His teams cut Fergie's to ribbons twice (two CL finals) and he's done it against Mourinho teams while at Barca and earlier this season at Old Trafford. Remember Barca before Pep took over....they weren't half what they became under him. City have never took a team to the cleaners as much as Pep's team did at the beginning of the season. They were toying with United. Pep's system maximises the potential of great players, but they need to be great players to work in his system such is the high risk strategy.

Interesting that when he has a team who aren't guaranteed to at least be in the top 2 he has floundered, found out, maybe, he's only managed Barca and Bayern, reckon even I could win something with them squads in those leagues.

As a City fan I don't consider us to be a club on the same level as Bayern or Barca or indeed any "bigger" than say Bury or Bradford. Going by the tone of your post, do you consider Everton on a par with these big clubs?

You must be a very level headed fan! However you are a bigger club than Bury or Bradford and seeing you are in effect the richest club in the world and first won the (premier) league what 5 years ago(?) and have won trophies since and at least been in the mix, he shouldn't have used those words.

To attract a manager like Pep you have proved you are a big club, a million miles from the Pearce/Hughes eras. You have a team that rightly should have got closer to Chelsea than they did. He is very well paid to help push you on in Europe to make your name bigger and anything else is an excuse. He should have said something along the lines of 'I'm lucky the owner has shown confidence in me to continue'.

The truth is who could they bring in to replace Pep that will be a cast iron improvement? So that and the fact they tried getting him for years and it would look a bit silly if they sacked him after a season are more the reasons he is still in a job.

As for the 'tone' of my post I suggest you read it again based on the above to why I found the comments funny. Nowhere does it say because Everton are bigger and better...

...however that is of course true, everyone knows that.
