I hit a cat once, it darted in the road - despite it looking like it was going in a garden, hit the bumper, luckily it got up and ran away, mustve been badly injured though...

In my Brother's car and he hit a dog. The dog was injured and no one was around with it, so we took it up the local RSPCA to look after it. My brother wanted to know wether the dog lived or not so I rung them up and he was fine and had found a new owner.
Made my brother a little happier! :)

I like stories like that, makes me all fuzzy inside.

Nice play from you two that.

with the greatest of respect...

...thats the story I would have told too.

Very true Suitsblue. It did put his mind at rest though. I wouldn't have thought the dog would have died though, they said at the time it looked like 2 broken legs.....but who knows.

Did our best though...but it was gutting to see the little dog sprawled out on the road like it was!

i rode over a snail when i was about 10 on by bike. it freaked me out seeing it all splattered and broken. and the noise it made was pure death. ever since i've always been really careful where i put my bike wheels, even to this day.

not up there with the mammalian deaths, but it still gave me icy shivers.

hope ur not in shock too long, cal. sounded like a proper nasty experience.

Never have but I saw a bird get hit on my way to work once & that took a while to get over. It was on a fairly narrow road in the middle of an S bend so traffic is always a maximum of about 30, usually slower. Must have been a young bird because it kind of hopped into the road in front of the car in front of me, got caught by the bumper & bounced & rolled into the gutter from the momentum.

I still feel sick thinking about that, I looked for any sign of it when I went back home but couldn't see anything so I hope that means it was just stunned & didn't die, doubt it though

Was driving before, and a cat ran out in the road and i hit it.

Just so gutted here really, seeing it die infront of me and there was nothing i could do to avoid it.

Just the way it went under my car was sickening and it's screaming and wriggling was heartbreaking to see.

I've got 2 cats, so i am just so gutted.

Anyone else ever hit something whilst driving?

I hit a rabbit once and a couple of birds (including a pheasant). I just avoided a cat in Aberfoyle (I think).

One of the reasons I drive carefully is to avoid hitting animals. I live in the country where speed limits tend to be high. The amount of dead animals on the road is sickening to be honest. It pisses me off that all these farmers in North Jutland have fecking loads of feral cats knocking around their farms, which often tend to end up dead on roads.

I feel for you, Cal.
