His strength is feeding set pieces onto the head of guys in front of the goal and this team really lacks top finishers with that skill. Giroud was the perfect partner for him last year but they came up short.

Arteta was a deep lying playmaker at his best for me, had a defined role, much better player than siggy is though.

I think siggy is a solid option on that inside left position

Arteta wasn't really given a 'free role' behind the striker. He either played on one of the wings or as a central midfielder in a two, with Cahill ahead.

Gylfi played 4-3-3 loads of times for Swansea. Sat on the left side of the three.

It's fine, and he'll be suited for that role. Has the energy to get around and get on the ball, while the other two players in there provide the 'insurance'.

But, we'll desperately need a bit of pace and bite around him. Gana/Schneiderlin (if he stays) - New signing - Gylfi. That'd be ideal.

I hate him now and never want to see him again but god, he was genuinely world class.
