Do you seriously think they don't practice penalties?

That was the second penalty taken by Gilfi that was atrocious. EFC have the lowest percentage of goals conversions
from corners in the Premier.

No idea if they practice penalties or corners but having read a good number of players' autobiographers nothing would
surprise me.

Really think certainly as far as the penalties go we should be looking at someone else confident and capable enough to take them, it's got to be getting psycological with Siggy now.

Hopefully our new striker comes in and takes over. If he misses any more the worry would be that you wouldn't want him to take in a shoot out. Although without penalties his contribution diminishes further as Digne should now be on free kicks and all of them are hitting the first man with corners. Our dead ball specialist will need to start contributing with open play assists. So far his goal tally is ok but if that dries up as well he only really contributes running around.

I'm really surprised if a coach who is apparently so well prepared like Marco Silva doesn't practise them, and if he doesn't then he should!

It must be a specialist position, not only for the extra 5-6 goals it brings, but also penalty shoot outs?

I can't tell now who is in the best position to do them - maybe Digne is like Baines was, maybe the new striker!

If it's not Richarlison its tricky, because he's the only guaranteed starter in the front 3

He's not been at his best in the last few games.

Was on the edge in the derby but still created two great chances, and I think he played okay in the first half on Monday but just lacked that final ball.

He'll come good again but, if we did go to a back 3 tomorrow, I wouldn't be surprised if he dropped out.
It would make sense. If Silva does play him, I assume it will be as a false striker in a back 3 formation.

I am wondering if Silva would put him back into a three man midfield, he is a passenger in the number ten at times when he isn't on form. You wonder if he would get more involved from deeper.

First of all, that penalty was not atrocious. It was hit as he intended, he was unlucky.

Second of all, they practice penalties. They also practice set pieces. It's been stated in interviews both with Silva and with players.

everyone can miss them, but theres nothing unlucky about missing a pen, all the odds are in the takers favour

Im not sure you can find too many examples of worse penalties that were on target.

Im also uncertain how you would know that it was what he intended, as that would make him an uber poor penalty taker.

Additionally, it wasnt unlucky seeing as the % of success is in favour of the taker.

In short, it was a shocking penalty.
