It's a bit funny how there is a call for "being balanced" and people who don't hate him come in and say "good game for him but it's too fleeting" or that ilk.

But then you never see the people steadfastly supporting him holding their hands up after a display like yesterday.

Don`t worry mate, once he scores one of his annual worldees, they`ll all be back on creaming their kecks.

Honestly I've been one of his defenders and I'm happily putting my hand up to say yesterday wasn't enough from him. It was decent, nothing more, nothing less, but we needed more.

Still believe he's good and will come good, as for that last game you can point at everyone except Pickford and maybe Digne/Zouma and say they've had a horrible game and you'd be right tbh.

It's a fair point. I just think they were all poor yesterday and alot of that was because we were down to bare bones.
But yeah, he was poor.

Its the start of the season and a LOT of those players should be "expecting" to be playing every week. If they are tired in the 4th match of the season than I think that says more about them than it does about anything else.

It's clear that Gylfi's performance is very much tied to team setup. Two true wingers, decent support from the deep midfield and fullbacks and some clever movement up top and he can do well. Start putting in the likes of Calvert-Lewin with his lack of wide threat and an ineffective Davies and Gylfi suffers. This has been happening going way back to when he had Dyer and Sinclair playing wide for him at Swansea.

I'm not sure what you mean about tired? My point was we have a lot of injuries and suspensions at the moment. Every team needs a settled side, in the main, to be consistent.

While others players get pillard for Saturdays performance let’s not loose site that this senior international footballer stunk the place out with stats that would make you shudder and got himself taken off even when we are really short for creative midfielders.

Lets look at a hypothetical.

Imagine Silva thinking;

1 -- To bring Bernard in for the wings, and a central attacking position because he considers him a Sigurdsson replacement but may need time to adapt

2 -- Perhaps Lookman and/or Dowell have been retained as they are seen as players who need to be in/around the squad and getting minutes to take the attacking central role from next season

3 -- It may well be that for the transfer value we would receive there may not have been a suitable replacement available in the market...or a buyer. The focus may now be on 'who replaces' Sigurdsson for next season and several players will all be given a chance there.

4 -- Silva may not have wanted any more upheaval in the squad and so is holding onto him for a season

There are a multitude of situations and possibilities. The main one is that he wasn't signed by Silva and so he cant be accountable for the lack of ability in that position until he has the time and opportunity to keep faith or replace.
Bernard is too old as are Dowell Lookman and Davies
Surely there is someone in the under 18s who can fill that role lol

That'll enrage people, but I completely agree with it.
Tosun & Siggurdsson - paceless relics of a Walsh era who have no place in a pacey attacking set up.

Get £40 million for the pair and reinvest in a top quality CF with bernard playing attacking midfield.
if you can name a top quality CF who would cost 50m I’d like you to do so now.
There is no way on Gods green earth you will get a PL ready top quality CF for less than 70/80m
