Biggest problems were through the middle last night, th e pace that Villa attacked and our snail pace through the middle. Gomes and Schneiderlin are not a good pairing, too slow and similar although at least Gomes can pass forward. If it were me I would have replaced Schneiderlin with Iwobi, at least then we would have had pace and drive in midfield. Kean should have replaced an out of sorts DCL.
But the two chances missed last night were criminal, total lack of composure.

When a player is hopelessly out of form he should be left out of the team and that certainly describes Sigurdsson at present. That may change in a few fames.

Gomez had a horrible game against Villa but I will credit him with not trying to hide.
I think it was a mistake not to bring on Tom Davies and indeed he was unlucky not to start.
I would like to see Richarlison moved back into centre forward, Iwobi start Davies to replace Schneiderlin who is a total waste of space.

Agree , would have gone Iwobi for Gomes ( he was shocking on the day) and Keane for DCL would have dropped siggy into Gomes position and then had Moise up top. When chasing a goal you don’t have Bernard who doesn’t score many, Domestos lewin who can’t score open goals and Walcott who can even hit the target from 8 yards as 3 of your attacking 4 options. Taking off both of your top scorers from last season was a bit risky despite how badly their all round play was

Gylfi is a carbon copy of Schneiderlin...

He is to attacking midfield what Schneiderlin is to defensive midfield.

It's certainly not working with him as we have zero attacking threat through the middle. All of our players look terrified of going forward so it's hard to pinpoint the issue for me, but I would like to see Iwobi get a run of games to see the difference.
