He's a quality player but not being used right. He should be in his peak now as well. unfortunately you won't see he best out of him while Allardyce is the manager.

Let the attack go through him and you have seen what he can do.

In a balanced and settled side he would be excellent. He's still shown plenty of flashes to demonstrate his quality this year. The problem has been that he isn't a world class player who can beat 3 or 4 men to make up for the failings of others around him who struggle to control a football in the final third.

Think back to the likes of Arteta, Pienaar and even Cahill. All of them would have struggled as individuals in this team. There's been so little to play off, especially in the first half of the season.

You know what though, that's literally him.

Good player in a crap team, managed by a route 1 chancer, he must wonder what ever possessed him to come here. Don’t say his wages because he could have got as much at other teams.

In games where he's struggled to hold onto the ball he's been completely isolated. We probably have the two worst full backs in the league in terms of attacking, together with either Calvert-Lewin or Niasse up front who let's face it aren't players you'd want anywhere near the build up play. Davies and Gueye can barely find a forward pass either.

I'm not saying Sigurdsson has been a roaring success. I just see a good player being wasted in this awful team.

I like him. With a proper manager who plays positive football he'll do well.

Oh and as along as he's not shoved out the left wing.

Still think he'd be fine in any position across the forward line as long as he had some decent players around him. He's good enough to do what Arteta and Pienaar did for years, just not when it's Cuco Martina providing the overlap, or lack of.

3/4 of a season in and people still deluding themselves that he would be brilliant IF.....

He is a decent PL player, nothing special, not a game changer, he is 28 and has played mainly for Swansea, with a short spell at Spurs and a short spell with us. There isn't a brilliant player in there trying to get out, he is playing the same for us as he has all through his career.

Good goalscoring record but bulked out through set pieces, and this has been achieved through volume as much as a particular skill. If he'd taken all our penalties he'd be on 8-10 goals and people would be saying he'd been a decent signing.

If he was in the Cahill role behind Lukaku with a Arteta/Pienaar/Osman/Carsley midfield and peak Baines and Coleman around him then of course he'd be far more effective.

But he is a £45m signing, we paid a massive premium for him, and that isn't his fault, but he is just OK. Nothing more.

.

I take your point that it was a huge price but out of all our signings over the past two seasons he's probably one of the only ones I'd like to still see here next season. He's not world class by any stretch of the imagination but he can be a lot more effective than he currently is now.

Christ, watching that even makes me miss Osman.

Agree pretty much that he's a decent player but what you could call a cog in the wheel type. As in he's an asset in a well functioning team with other quality players, but he ain't going to single handedly drag a team up on his own.

He's played centrally and he's been equally as poor.

The excuses are done. The lads not good enough.

Bit harsh he can be a good player for us I think but the team needs to be set up right. He is not his price tag he is nowhere near world class he is just a good premiere league player. As shown at Swansea can be effective with pace on the wings and attacking full backs and a genuine target man ahead of him. He started poorly for us but had no preseason, he has improved but should be playing as the attacking player in a three in midfield not as a number 10 necesarilly.

He played his best football out wide for Swansea last season, pinging crosses into Llorente.

His full-back was also Kyle Naughton who is hardly attacking.
