If the people in charge could manage the club as well as they manage expectations we would be trophy laden and in Europe every year.
They appoint Benitez thereby establishing a low point, flirt with the relegation zone, anything from here is a positive. Sack Benitez, things are looking up, then dampen down expectations by going after managers who are poor. Then announce a short list with Big Dunc on it, expectations rise again, one of our own etc. etc. but then include a rank bad manager with no experience in the Premier League and another manager with little experience and who no one else wants. Hopefully we pick the little experience who no one else wants and we are all relieved that they didn’t pick the rank bad one. Then they sit back, congratulation themselves that they chose the best available. We are happy because usually they get it really wrong. They then pay him off at the end off the season, and we go around again.
I would put Big Dunc in charge until the end of the season, await the outcome of this in-depth review and make a considered decision then.
While I don’t think Frank Lampard is our saviour he does seem like a genuine sort and as his wife is from Northern Ireland he must have something about him.
