2024/25 Harrison Armstrong

Anonymous 1st half for obvious reasons.

2nd half was either deep or popping up on the right. Seemed to be the one who was able to recycle the ball and either make a simple pass / touch or thread one forward.

A couple of tackles, one great and i think on this showing he'd definitely be competition for Garner in that right central position.

If we were to use a deep midfielder to keep things ticking over then he's getting that experience now.

Lad was absolutely useless. Poor team pressing for an equaliser and he had zero effect on the game.

I don’t think he’s ready to be a rotation option yet.

He’d be great off the bench after 60/70 mins but is that right for his development?

He was neat and tidy and played some decent progressive passes but looked like the game bypassed him off the ball. Not sure that’s something we can carry in our side yet.

Would be leaning towards another championship loan, ideally someone looking at the playoffs like a Blackburn or similar - easier said than done though. I think game time is more important for him than getting off the bench here and there for us next year.

He needs to be one of the top 3 midfielders at the club (in the manager's eyes) to stay here next season imo. Otherwise, he should get as many minutes as he can elsewhere.

Absolutely mate, he’s got a lot of talent and I think minutes on the pitch at that level is way more important than the odd substitute appearance for us.

If we were in Europe then absolutely keep him here, there won’t be enough minutes though (and I’d say if there are then we’ve made a mess recruitment wise).

I dont think his role was to press at all, simply to sit deep, recycle and roam to the right when appropriate

He pressed a few times/tried to stop them coming through the middle and didn’t get close.

Doesn’t really matter what his role is, you naturally press and close space when you’re playing centre mid.

He doesn’t quite look physically ready for the top level (understandably) and I definitely wouldn’t trust him playing deep in the prem. Amazing experience being trusted there even in the championship though.

The ideal loan would be to Ajax and replace Henderson there. Their manager is very astute and i think he'd do well there in that deep midfield area.

But i wouldnt discount him competing with Garner in the first team squad. Yes, he'd need to improve areas of his game but hes only 18 years old and perhaps our coaching staff and 20mins a game can help more than 90mins in sides like we saw today.

I agree that he wouldnt be starting for us and definitely not as a deep midfielder.

Also that its great experience at Derby especially as he only turned 18 in January.

The next step is going to be interesting. A loan to the wrong club could be a big problem at his age and stage of development. Also being in the squad and getting limited minutes wouldnt be ideal either.

My Ajax shout is simply because they have that deeper role and are able to carry a player there + their manager i think would improve him. In truth though, they probably go for their own player or a more experienced signing.

Veerman isnt going to be dislodged at PSV so Brands couldnt do us a favour.

As above, its going to be interesting.

Edit: Ipswich under McKenna ?

Like the idea of an Ajax but again I think he’d struggle for game time. PSV or something maybe.
