I get that but it’s a big step up and I don’t think he will be able to develop so much under the spotlight here. One bad pass or missed tackle and the crowd will be on him, at an early age, confidence is a massive thing.
I’m hoping we have enough funds to bring in a ready now type of player.

3 of them are not currently contracted with us next season and another 2 aren't midfielders.
i doubt we are spending a lot of money of bringing plyers in either.
armstrong could easily get 30+ appearances with 15-20 starts next season with us in all comps
 
Hes just gone on 18, hes very young, i think its incredible hes starting games in the Championship at his age.

Would 100% send him out on loan and let him play a full season n the Championship - invaluable.

He wont get the mins he needs to develop here.

We had arguably one of the greatest players England has ever produced in Rooney here under Moyes at the same age and he still didn't get a regular game.

Under Moyes at the same age - 18 - Rooney had made 67 appearances for Everton, started for England at a euros and then moved for a world Record fee to United. Theres a dozen academy players you could use as an example to prove your point and you chose by far the worst one.

Think you have the wrong of it mate.

In his first season he averaged 17 mins per league game.

In his second he averaged 27 mins per league game.

I dont need to tell anyone most would have lived through it.

Rooney was one of the best the country ever produced at that age - like i said wasn't guaranteed starts or mins, so id suggest Harrison wont either.

I haven't had a look at the numbesr but going from memory i remember there was some annoyance about the lack of mins Barkley was getting toward the tail end of Moyes first stint here as well.

Yes he started Barkley at 17 first game of the season v QPR I think it was and then that was that, he went on loan a couple of times, but hardly got a look in under Moyes and then started straight away under Martinez

Remember it hit an apex when we got stuffed by Wigan in the cup mate, people were furious Barkley wasn't being given a chance as we were mullard in midfield that day - by all people James McCarthy.

You definitely have it wrong mate. Wayne Rooney did not average 27 mins a game in his second season. He started 26 games for that season including the final like 10 on the bounce

I have no idea how you've calculated those figures but they're massively off.

Sorry mate you're right, error on my behalf the equivalent of 27 games instead of mins - that's my mistake - apologies. ;)

So the equivalent of 17 and 27 games respectively - yeah ignore me! :lol:

….i remember Moyes telling Neil Warnock that Barkley couldn’t be trusted out of possession, he also struggled for game time on loan.
