Having a glass

Swooped a Cruzcampo chalice at the beginning of the year (obviously not gonna state where I 'acquired' it from lol) but its very very rare I do stuff like that - was intoxicated and just happened to really like the design of the glass ha.

That's what people used to call them back then. Basically stealing stuff, like glasses, other stuff from pubs, traffic cones etc

Works brewery tours where the worst for this.

Remember going on one to a brewery in Burton, when I`d just started as a lad.

An hour of free ale, which caused mayhem ( someone drank ten pints ) and some of the stuff that got robbed as trophies was just nuts - a fake shield and framed pictures of the walls.

Back in the 90s it just seemed normal for someone plastered to nick stuff. Several groups of friends in house shares would end up with all sorts. Go out as a group and someone got egged on. Beer glasses, ash trays, memorabilia, even a pub garden bench. Pretty sure someone towed a barman's mini away with them for a laugh. Left the window down, so they took off his hand break and hauled it with rope a couple of streets away.

Not in the UK, but I`ve had loads off in Belgium over the years, as some of their glasses are like works of art, particularly the Kwak glass. ( tricky to get home in one piece )

Spoke to a guy in work that did promotional work for Harp and he asked them their view on people stealing pint glasses and they said they supply the bars with free glasses and view theft of them as free advertising.

So in that sense the bars aren't losing out and the company and customer benefits. Everyone wins.
Maybe. I'm in US so may have been different, but the bar had to pay some for them. And if you take the free ones, pub is going to have buy something.

Different story if it is the pub logo or something other than a beer brand. Those you ask about, offer to pay, compliment the pub/amazing you've had here, hope for the best. Never take those.

Also: Buy GOT pint glasses and never have to steal inferior products!!

Remember going into one of those new cool karaoke bars with private rooms back in the early 21st century (a PS3 and Singstar), anyway the mics wouldn't work properly and the owner had no spares available, wouldn't refund the booking either so the PS3 controller magically found its way into a bush up the street.

Very important research conducted last year highlighted the impact of beer glass stealing on the industry:

Are you a beer glass thief? Or is it more a case of liberation?

How does this sit with your moral compass?

What will Pete say?

Do threads like this help win all the awards?

Case study below:

In Corfu last week and had a nice (It was warm and the beer was cold) pint of Mythos. Heres a picture:

And then here is the pint glass having been liberated by utilising the wife to distract the servers by paying in a very quiet bar and the babies pram to shield the evidence.

The key question is, as always...

Will it fit in your missus's handbag
