So with the season finally in the book, time to look back at the head to heads with the rest of the league and see where we need to improve next season (cup games against league clubs will be counted as well
Arsenal - 2-1 (h), 1-0 (a) - 3-1 overall
Aston Villa - 1-2 (h), 0-0 (a) - 1-2 overall
Brighton - 4-2 (h), 0-0 (a) - 4-2 overall
Burnley - 1-2 (h), 1-1 (a) - 2-3 overall
Chelsea - 1-0 (h), 0-2 (a) - 1-2 overall
Crystal Palace - 1-1 (h), 2-1 (a) - 3-2 overall
Fulham - 0-2 (h), 3-2 (a) - 3-4 overall
Leeds - 0-1 (h), 2-1 (a) - 2-2 overall
Leicester - 1-1 (h), 2-0 (a) - 3-1 overall
Liverpool - 2-2 (h), 2-0 (a) - 4-2 overall
Man City - 1-3 (h), 0-5 (a), 0-2 (c) - 1-10 overall
Man United - 1-3 (h), 3-3 (a), 0-2 (c) - 4-8 overall
Newcastle - 0-2 (h), 1-2 (a) - 1-4 overall
Sheff United - 0-1 (h), 1-0 (a) - 1-1 overall
Southampton - 1-0 (h), 0-2 (a) - 1-2 overall
Tottenham - 2-2 (h), 1-0 (a), 5-4 (c) - 8-6
overall
West Brom - 5-2 (h), 1-0 (a) - 6-2 overall
West Ham - 0-1 (h), 1-0 (a), 4-0 (c) - 5-1 overall
Wolves - 1-0 (h), 2-1 (a) - 3-1 overall
The big take out is against the relegated sides we only done the double over West Brom, we lost overall to Fulham and drew with Sheffield United. That has to improve when Norwich and Watford return plus either one of Swansea or Brentford join them
City and Newcastle were the only teams to do the double over us, City doing the treble after beating us in the FA Cup and along with United scored the most goals against us. On the flip side the only teams we doubled on were Arsenal, West Brom and Wolves
Our form against the finishing Top 8 was generally good, a record of 7 wins, 4 draws and 5 defeats in the league (7 counting the cup exits to the Manchester clubs) so the goal should be to win the games we won this season again and turn 2-3 of the draws/defeats into wins, ideally one of which would be at Stamford Bridge, the last demon that needs exorcising
