Alright, just don't expect me to join that love fest. Although I still like to love Arteta, if that's allowed?

*Oh and Paella, definitely Paella*

Totally agree with you on that one lad. Not a big Spanish fan at all except for our boy Arteta and that winger kid Navas looked nifty. Sorry about the game too I should have been more respectful. Most of my picks went down like the titanic. I still like Johnny Boy and I am a big fan of Dutch football since the seventies.

Don't get me wrong here Axlswhk, but that's the point I've been trying to make all through the tournament. Do whatever it takes. Holland without doubt have been playing with the bit between their teeth and it proved succesful, as we reached the final for the first time in 32 years. Now would anyone of you be complaining, be it English, American, Irish or whatever other nationality, if it was your country? Somehow, I don't think so.

The only thing I don't get is the blind ignorance towards the Spanish players. They were diving, cheating and playing dirty themselves. Why is a stamp on Iniesta or Villa any worse than a stamp on Robben.

Oh and for the record, I agree that De Jong's faul on Alonso was a disgrace.

Considering that the Dutch didn't lose a game until the final (unlike Spain)

Our Johnny and them can keep their heads up because they're a decent team.

Enough said.

If it was a points game, we would've been champions. Six wins, one draw. For a little country like ours, that isn't such a bad feat. Not too dissapointed about the final outcome, proud of our boys in Orange. Tommorow evening I'm going to the tribute for Mark van Bommel in his birthplace and on Thursday will be going to Bert van Marwijk's one. Well, time to move on now and look towards the season with Everton.

Spain were snidey, Holland were dirty. I much prefer my teams* dirty.

* and ladies.

THIS . ( These . )

An' that little Carpet Seller , Iniesta , and the fella with the Donkeys at Torremolinos , Hernandez , were diving , little snides , who shoulda got yellows each for brandishing them everytime there was a foul .
Moreover , Busquets , has been , at it , since game 1 . Took Robben out , blatantly , but didn't warant a mention .
The Dutch did what they had to do , and if Robben hadve turned up , woulda won it .

Oh , an' I had Forlan , at 50-1 to be top scorer .

Fukn devoed .

Im with Dutch. Spain weren't entirely innocent during the game either. Hell, if I was Webb, I probably would've had the balls to send Xavi off for his baffling persistance in remonstation, simulation, and imaginary card waving throughout the entire game.

Good player or not, the dude acted like an utter prick. Totally unprofessional.

Spain may have flopped a bit, but the Dutch have arguably been the worst flopping team of the tournament. So it's hard to call the Spanish on something the Dutch (imo) were consistently guilty of themselves. On top of that, they were overly brutish. Just a bad combination for me.

I don't mind a technical, creative, beautiful football-playing team who flops a bit. Or a tough, physical team who plays hard, relies on counter attacks, but doesn't play act all game long & just gets on with it.

But to me somewhere along the way the Dutch became both the biggest actors AND the most physical (borderline dirty). For me, as the cup progressed, this began to leave an increasingly bad taste in my mouth. Just my own take that's all. I went from rooting for them, to tolerating, to "ok somebody needs to beat these guys" pretty quickly.

Xavi & Iniesta were, from my end, 2 of the shining lights. Yes they draw (sometimes questionable) fouls. But they're great players who offered a large percentage of the few inspired moments in an otherwise rough final. And they're pretty humble guys, as far as superstars go. Sorry but w/ todays spoiled megastars, these 2 are pretty damn good. I think Iniesta somehow gets caught in between xavi/messi purgatory. I was reading all these "wc best xi" teams & nobody had him in their team. I think if xavi & messi were genetically engineered to crossbreed, iniesta would be the result. He can do much of what either those 2 do, but the reverse isn't true. Helluva player.

I don't think Iniesta had a brilliant tournament in all honesty, he did very well against Germany and Holland but leading up to that he was very hit and miss and playing below his usual high standards.

Xavi is still the best CM in World football for me.

Fair. I think he had a slight knock early on, plus when torres was yanked he was free to operate on the left where he often does for club. But still, isn't semi & final more important than group games? I actually was a bit disappointed in xavi early on in games as well. He was missing passes that he always knocks spot on. Heard rumors the pitch was dreadful in one or more games, which I could see affecting someone like xavi more than others.

Maybe it's just the American in me, but the bigger the game the more heavily weighted. And Iniesta vs germany & holland would be enough to make my wc best team as he was the difference maker imo.

were we watching the same tournament? besides robben and de jong, I don't really think any dutch players dove. spain were chronic, but i'm not even sure they were the worst culprits
