Hi-Fi systems

Seriously, what does your £3.5k network switch do to improve audio quality?
The use of switches is controversial, with many dismissing the idea as preposterous. I find otherwise.

What I would say is that once you get to a certain level of equipment, and streaming is a sole or major part of that system, then it becomes very valuable indeed

In my own view the use of a switch is to break up the signal path and in particular the ground connection over the ethernet to prevent any noise from you router getting to your player. WIth it in place, I am hearing more detail at the lower end in particular.

Bought a Wiim streamer/dac the other week.
For budget hifi it is astonishing value.
When i think of the crap i've paid far more for i could weep.
Its software puts many high end firms to absolute shame.

My mate has one and swears by it.

All of my music is hosted on my multimedia NAS, and I have a raspberry pi with a DAC plugged into my amp. Volumio is nice and works for me, but the WiiM stuff looks incredible value.

Mate i swore by the pi set up.
I ran it with the Allo kit. Lightyears ahead in sq to stuff 10 times its price.....i'd been there.
Only junked it as when we had fibre installed i just could not get the software to work. Then found LMS had stopped supporting Tidal so sadly ditched it.
But the wiim as a stopgap but i love it now.
Takes some time to tweak its dac to your liking though.
What dac do you use with your pi?

Appreciate the answer given I was kind of rude yesterday, but that does seem entirely preposterous. The only thing travelling over the ethernet is packets of data.

Old school Olive Naim once more mate.
72/Hicap (Avondale mods)/ Nap250.
Speakers were Isobariks but now SBL's.
Very nice.

I'm 282 / 250 Dr / HCDR/ in the classic range.

I quite fancy an 82 / SC / 135 x2 as a 2 Nd system.

I believe that the sound signature is very different.

I heard a beautifully refurbished pair of btiks at last years NW Audio show , they sounded sensational and the guy who does the refurbishment lives in the next village to me in Lancashire.

Very tempting but suspect it would lead to a divorce.

Nice one mate. Great system👍 Was looking at 82 plus the 135's myself. I just don't listen to enough music to warrant it though
My Briks were restored but the Mrs just couldn't get on with them😅
