Hello everyone,

I have been casually following EPL for a few years now, my primary team is the Portland Timbers, however I never had an EPL team that I followed. I have a friend who I was trying to get into world football and over beers we talked about how Everton would be a great team for him to support, amazing history, big club, American players, passionate fans, a team that actually wants to and tries to win and once they get the money they will be a powerhouse, etc. As we started following Everton this season, I started to fall in love with them myself for those exact reasons and now here I am. I'm looking forward to getting to know EFC, this board, and the entire Everton community as a whole.

Rose City till I die - is that a rallying cry ?
Welcome.

Yeah it's a Portland Timbers thing. Portland is called the Rose City since we have this international rose test garden, plus roses grow everywhere in town.

Welcome.

Sounders fan myself and a fan of Hawaiian Pizza...not a great start :p

Do you live in PDX? Big fan...lived there a couple of years.

Haha, oh man. Still reeling from Sunday, I was there and it was such a fun atmosphere. Result didn't go our way but you guys needed the points desperately and it'll make the last 7 games way more interesting. Yeah I live in PDX, absolutely love it, going to check out the Oregon Evertonian group whenever I have a Saturday/Sunday morning off.

What's a rose test garden ?

What's a rose test garden ?

During WWII, some people were worried that a bunch of European strains of roses were going to go extinct, so they picked Portland to be the site of this Rose preservation garden. After the war it turned into this "Rose test garden" where they mix different strains to make different types of roses. During the summer into fall it's absolutely amazing and colorful, with hundreds if not thousands of different rose variants and types. The city's annual festival is called the Rose Festival where there's a yearly champion Rose and a parade, etc. If you ever are in the Pacific Northwest it's definitely worth checking out.
