To be safe then tell your family to only buy Manuka that has an MGO of 85+ and /or NPA (Non-Peroxide Activity)of at least 5+.
The best on the UK market are circa 500 MGO and/or 15-20 NPA.
If the jar does not have any of these descriptors then avoid as it will be fake.
Anything that says “TA” or Total Activity followed by a number in the hundreds(or any number for that matter) will be a blend of honeys where the actual real Manuka content is tiny.
Trust me, as I worked in the honey industry for 10 years before I retired and sourced NZ Manuka direct from beekeepers.
