Only place I've ever been in trouble during my time on the road with Everton is Manchester.

First time was the Milk Cup final at Maine Road, when my mate and I got jumped by Citeh fans outside Benetton.

Second time was when I was with a police escort returning from Old Trafford. I got my butt kicked by a fat policeman on a horse for the serious crime of trying to avoid getting hit by missiles thrown by Man Yoo fans.

Third time was when I went to Manchester on a Saturday afternoon and bumped into the same Citeh fans who had previously given me a good slap (see above).

But this was all back in the 80s. Nowadays things are better. Just don't go on a drinking session wearing an Everton top, which is kind of asking for trouble.

Ok thanks

Cheers boys. Yeah i wanna take me missus to Goodison but she is a reds fan. So is all her family, so yeah its not gonna much fun hanging around em.

You know how you guys said dont go out at night wearing an Everton top, does it matter if your a tourist or not? like just say i was wearing the Australian National Soccer Jersey at night is that asking for trouble as well or is it just premier league tops?

Best I have had in manc is I have an Everton tattoo that is visible if I have short sleeves ,well I was in a pub and this rather menacing looking guy stared at my tat and came over and said have a pint mate you must hate the [Poor language removed] as much as me:lol:

I think the main problem with wearing a footy top at night is that you won't get into some places as it's "sportswear" (Manchester, this is btw).

My advice: Don't wear the top.

If you do wear it on a night out, it is highly unlikely to get you into any trouble... but it just might given the wrong circumstances.

Wearing something else means that "highly unlikely" becomes "impossible".

Half my wife's family are reds, so we're planning to buy them Everton gear for their babies etc...

Also, bumped into a bloke wearing a Man City jersey at the Sydney Big Day Out this year... had some good banter, but all in good fun. Next year I'll wear my jersey and see if I can get some 'Champions League' comments!

colours @salford college

i was an apprentice in salford and had to go to college there(in the 80's), always used to wear a shirt and very often a ski hat, never used to get any grief but suppose i was a bit fortunate that we were the best team in europe and they were [Poor language removed], so they werent really rivals or anything, not once the 1st few weeks of the season were out of the way anyway !! mostly just got banter but then the only thing you had to worry about really was a kicking(no guns in them days) dont reckon i'd do it now though. just wear your aussie top with "cahill" on the back that way you'll just get banter.
