Horse Racing

I’m finding it increasingly difficult to tally what’s been a lifelong hobby for me with the mortality rate of horses. I do think it’s cruel sport.

I’ve been involved in 5 syndicates personally and 3 of the horses were dead before the age of 5 - and that’s flat and jumps horses.

It’s a terrible story all round.

The horse was 13 and had no real form to suggest he had any chance of winning and was ran to death by the jockey who has been suspended for just ten days.

It was the oldest horse in the race at 125/1, showing signs of distress well before the end and the jockey rode it to the end of the race. (the swear filter won't allow the next word). 🤬

Yeah, it’s beyond grim.

Questions need to be asked of everyone involved for putting him out there on hard ground and running the poor thing to death.

The winning jockey gets an 8 days ban for using the whip after the final fence one more time than is allowed and the jockey who rode a horse to death created an "exercise induced episode" from which "a post-race infection" developed gets 10 days.

Nothing to see here...
