Horse Racing

….not sure how long it’ll be there but 100-1 365 on Regents Stroll for Supreme might not last long given Nicholls has confirmed he’s giving him an entry in the race.

….cashed this one in after his run this afternoon, full monies back.

I’ve still got a couple of 100-1 shots with a chance of running next month;

Kawaboomga 100-1 Sup & Turn (as low as 6-1 Turn now)
Lecky Watson 100-1 BANC (now a best 14-1)
Derryhouse Paddy 100-1 Albert Bartlett (General 20-1 but might not run).

I’d love Lecky to do the business as I also have him at 100-1 in an e/w double with Galvin.

….Sir Gino injured and out for the season, dreadful new for Nick Henderson who lost a few key players for last seasons Festival. I had him in my book for the Arkle, but that’s racing. The most important thing is that this magnificent horse is fit and well for next season.

I did KDB at 25s , now evens !! 365 offering me a decent cash out, decisions !!

….well done, hopefully on my advice.

i’ve got him nicely in my book for both races. It’s almost certain he’ll go Supreme but I’m happy to sit on both bets for now.

Cashing out is a very personal thing, Kopek looks a bit special and I’m very happy to watch him run for me at 25s (I might actually have him at bigger) as that’s the aim of my ante-post approach.

There’s actually a scratch day tomorrow where trainers have an opportunity to withdraw horses from Supreme and Turners novice races. Mullins would normally keep entries in both but he withdrew Salvator Mundi from Turners at last stage and the cash-out disappeared for that race.

I had him at 5s in a treble with constitution hill (3s) and east India dock (7s)

My only ante post bet

<cries>

….Grand National weights are out.

He’s getting a bit long in the tooth and a few of the younger ones might make life difficult but I get the impression Gordon Elliott likes Galvin’s chances. Unsurprisingly given my history with the horse (put him up on here when he won National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham a few years ago) I’ve been backing him at 40-1 with a few free bets, he’s got <11st to carry and is a great e/w price.

A few months ago I did a very speculative e/w double; Lecky Watson 100-1 (BANC) & Galvin 33-1 (GN). Lecky is now a best priced 14-1 for that Festival race, Mullins has said he’s going so the dream lives on ;)

Last years Grand National was the least romantic story ever

Richest owner
Biggest trainer - who had about 10 runners
Best jockey

Suppose if you just back whatever Townend is on you are already on whatever has the best chance out of all the many Mullins entries

….. he is obviously a top pilot, I suppose any Mullins trained JP McManus runners will be ridden by Mark Walsh and JJ Sleven is now retained for double green runners. The other point is whether he’ll be loyal to last years winner.

….this years Champion Bumper is a bit of a minefield with so many hyped horse. I’m hearing a few positives about Gameofinches for Mullins who runs this weekend. He’s 20-1 with NRNB concession which takes away all the risk. If he bombs you get your money back, but wins well and he’ll be around the head of the market.

Tragic news today with the death of jockey Michael O'Sullivan after a final fence fall at Thurles on Feb 6th, Michael had been in hospital since but died this morning from his injuries.
Today's meeting at punchestown has been abandoned as a mark of respect .

….only 24 years of age. Hopefully Cheltenham mark his passing next month.
