If you replace any fixture also replace the hoses, regardless of how good they look. The rubber inside loves to rot and the joints/seams love to give out after a random amount of time and the slight movement of removing abd reattaching them.

That is all.

You can't beat a bit of rubber, mate lol - £2.99p per pack, but all someone altered the fittings - they have lasted 30 year plus on my loft tank & central heating tank ......no need for crappy spindles there - the main fault I found is the lever function of the taps tend to wear the arm of the spindle going into the ceramic disc .....
Everyman to his trade, but as a Nurseryman I dealt in rubber washers I had many taps plus irrigation units never had many problems with rubber washer style taps or the main pump on the massive circular water container run by a pump to maintain water pressure even if you had a drip You could reverse the rubber washer & that would last for a while .... If a tap spindle was universal size, I could see their value as you have to use the same spanners & procedure etc, but they vary in the hundreds & the brass on the main arm of the spindle is weak on what you purchase hence your slummy ......

I went to Scewfix mate the spindle I had to show, then a sharp intake of breath - not any size in stock for my tap...... there verdict it was a Barsterward size - I have now purchased a tap spanner next time I will replace the taps from new - impressed with the prices in Scewfix & their quality of taps ...... a plumber wanted £50 to fit a pair of taps ......:eek:
