Weird. I was too young to give a [Poor language removed] who the PM was before Blair. But, as long as there are no Tories running the country then I'm happy ;)

I don't think he is all that different than Blair TBH. He said he would review the policy on Iraq, and he is taking a hardline stance against the Nuclear plans of Iran. Which could lead to a whole new war in the middle east. A lot of Liberals here have said our real goal for taking Iraq was to give us a stepping stone (a base of operations) to go into Iran.

I don't know the domestic issues, but I do know my wifes mother made more under Blair's single parent worker policies than she ever did before him.

for the politically minded this could turn out to be an interesting thread Dylan, on the surface he seems an ok kind of bloke to me, time will tell.

   , How come that's attributed to me ? I didn't write it !

Why would we need to be free of Blair? He did a good job, was a better Prime Minister than the last one, and a hand in the removal of an evil dictator.

I sincerely hope the UK experience differs from the Canadian one. I see similarities to a few years ago when long-standing Canadian PM, Jean Chretien, stepped down to be replaced by his Finance Minister Paul Martin. Martin was generally considered the best finance minister in living memory, but he frankly turned out to be an ineffective, ineffectual PM whose only clear goal was being Bono's best mate. Good finance guy <> good leader? We shall see.
