How much corruption do you REALLY think is in football?

Oh and my view on Clattenburg is that HE is corrupt. Dont think it was The FA (I think we probably have the best FA in Europe, even if we dont like them sometimes). I think he had a few bets on or was payed or something like that. You will always get referee's making mistakes, sometimes glaring ones, but to get as many decisions wrong as he did and all in one teams favour... It was so blatantly obvious I want to scream, even still. That and the Collina performance, where he was brought out of retirement to send us home. The reds call us bitter, but tbh I can only recall 2 refereeing performances where you can genuinely say something dodgy was going on, and they both happened to us. Combined with our horrific bad luck at times we are fairly hard done by a lot of the time.

I agree about Clattenburg. I think he's a dodgy ****er, I think he has been for years. I think he bets on the cards or something like that. Even the United-Chelsea game there was no need for him to dish out anywhere near as many as he did. He's ridiculously inconsistent.

The less said about the world cup decision the better. Utterly shameful giving it to Qatar in particular.

I've said it before and I'l say it again. If you ever need proof of curruption with FIFA, this picture provides it

Worst moment in football. Ever.

Spreading football to new regions? What was wrong with Australia's bid in that regard? We clearly have a better national team, a better domestic league, a better sporting pedigree, and a better legacy in hosting sporting events. I have no idea how that Qatar bid could have been better than Australia's without every aspect of it being greased by oil sheiks.

They are going to have designated drinking areas.

DESIGNATED DRINKING AREAS.

I assume there are no bars and clubs in Qatar so whats everyone going to do after the games? See the country? A big **** hole, and lots of Islam. I can go 10 minutes down the road and see that. I shall not be going Sepp.

Still fuming about the Qatar and Russian world cups.

We only live once and are definatly only young once. When they make these **** decisions they are actually affecting my life ffs. I'll be well in my 30's by the time a decent world cup venue comes around (if it ever does). Hopefully with a wife and kids so I wont be able to just **** off for a month.

Er, it's in Brazil the year after next?

When large amounts of money are involved in anything corruption will follow. Agents are scum of the earth and bookies and syndicates are scumbags too all in for a buck they don't give a flying feck about football fans.

As now it's possible to bet about almost everything in a game it's quite easy to fix a game or influence it so that someone somewhere has a better chance of having his bet win and do it in a not so apparent way. Like amount of corners in a for a side either if you are a linesman or a ref. If you manage to alter the resulting statistics by 10-20% in your favour then you can even afford losing some of the 'fixed' or altered bets.

There's also a lot of money involved in football as well as stupid people with lack of moderation so I'd be surprised if corruption would not be a problem.

See Blatter, Sepp.

It's pretty well known that some players used to 'overhit' passes from kick-off in order to take advantage of markets such as first team throw-in. The point about it being easier to fix certain stats in football is bang on imo. Same sort of thing as the recent spot-fixing thing in the cricket.

From what I have seen, there is plenty of corruption in football where betting is concerned. And there are other major sports that are at least as bad if not worse.

Lots and lots. There is a huge amount of money in the game. Which usually leads to corruption.

Look at all the gambling involved in the game.

Boxing we all know is full of money, gambling, gangsters and is very corrupt - what makes anyone think football is any different. It has the same elements as boxing.
