Saw my P60 and due to ridiculously generous overtime shifts and uplifts I earned about £20k more than my base salary last year. I’m also absolutely skint and have absolutely nothing to show for any of it so can only assume I don’t actually get paid and money doesn’t exist

Best pay I ever had in Cheshire 13.5k in 1985......overtime, plus a slack bonus scheme was 60% of my wage though - I was on more than the parks staff Manager - I was a mere Chargehand back then - he used to laugh when he handed me my P60 - saying I am sure your wage is higher than mine - I replied yes, but I have earned mine laughing - he just smiled .....

Utter respect for each other as he knew I was producing the goods in my workplace propagation wise plus being on call etc...

I left for promotion for a staff job further away & took a £3000 pay cut, but turned out in the end to be a great promotion ...... my pay soon zoomed up - to leave me with a very good pension now .... in retirement .... money is not everything , but it helps ....
