Transfer Rumour Hugo Ekitike

Everton fans are not the scariest fans on the planet things go on at clubs on other countries that are actually frightening a few sack the board chants and getting booed when they lose isn't going to put players off fgs!

Never said we are the scariest but I have said there are more stable clubs in premier league at this moment and right across European leagues. I stand by that conclusion. Hopefully we get that reputation back, as the club can also use it as a stepping stone.

I get the feeling that we try and agree a deal with a club before we approach the player.

That’s how it should be done of course, but it’s not what happens in reality.
Don't reckon it matters, If I were an agent I would be advising my client to look what else is out there, act in haste repent at leisure.

I don't think players care about that at all is my point most players will take an extra 5k in the pay packet over being at a stable club thats the reality.

Missed a fair few games with hamstring injuries in the last couple of seasons. Also been red carded twice by the looks of it.

Slight areas for concern, if we're gonna spend 35 million on him.

….the season starts on Saturday, I somehow doubt Ekitike will be part of the season-start discussion.

DCL, Danjuma, and Maupay are in the squad. It’s not Thelwell’s fault if Dyche’s first two choice options are not fully fit for the first game.

We can’t just hoarde multiple top players in every position to account for injuries. Someone at the club needs to sort out the injury situation and then we wouldn’t be fuming at recruitment all the time when third choice players are playing.

It happens all the time , another season starting and our likely front three (McNeil DCL Danjuma) probably won’t be available to start because they’ve all picked up injuries. We can’t just buy another first choice front three to cover the fact that our best players keep getting injured every season.

Every team outside the top 6 has this problem squad wise, the difference is not all of them continuously have key players injured. It’s been a problem at the club for a long time arguably seeing Silva fired when Gbamin Gomes and Delph his three midfield signings all picked up long term injuries. Lampard first game last season loses Godfrey Mina Holgate in one game that was to add to us missing Garner Patterson and DCL for most of the season also.

We simply can’t carry those types of injuries or have players in reserve to cover every possible injury scenario.

The first choice striker is an England international, the second choice striker is a Dutch international who led the line for Villareal. It’s not Thelwell’s fault if they’re missing on Saturday.

Think they do or we would have had the press conferences long ago. Our reputation as a club that develop players has been damaged. Looking from outside into Everton there are better propositions.

No, but at a properly run club, with ambitions, DCL would have been demoted to second choice about 18 months ago, and arguably binned off any time round about now.

You can't blame the medical department for us not being able to replace under-performing, unfit, or simply not up to it players.

We literally brought in a bloke months ago who led the line for Villareal in the champions league semi finals and is a Dutch international.

Yes last season didn’t go to plan. Maupay was a bad buy and it was compounded by DCL being injured for yet another season. Hindsight is a great thing but when he got himself fit at the back end of Lampard’s first season who would have thought that he’d miss the entirety of the next season?

Im not defending what the club have done but some people are acting like we’ve not got a single striker on the books and Thelwell’s done nothing about it for 18 months.

First of all he’s only been here for three windows (12 months) and in that time we’ve bought Maupay, thought we’d secured Danjuma before Lampard was fired, then did get Danjuma, is now closing on Chermiti also.

Thelwell’s mistake so far was that Maupay was a bad buy to play the lone striker role by himself. It’s not his fault though when the options in the squad are continuously unavailable to the manager

The FFP position has meant we can’t just bin off an asset like DCL. We literally can’t afford to and we can’t afford to buy in a first choice of his quality, and a second, and a third. Again we can all go over the backstory of this but Thelwell arrived within these constraints.
