Has anyone else noticed the difference in spin, between the Sigurdsson and Rodallega moves, and how the press are covering them?

When Sigurdsson turns down the RS to go to Spurs for more money (because Rodgers refused to bow to his wage demands), the RS are given sympathetic coverage, along the lines of Rodgers making a pithy remark that gets him compared Shankly, about how Sigurdsson turned down 'the legendary Liverpool to join Spurs'.

However, when Rodallega turns down Everton to go to Fulham for more money, because Moyes wouldn't bow to his wage demands (and Prentice of the Echo confirmed it - it's not a case of 'couldn't', it's a case of 'wouldn't), Everton gets press headlines along the lines of 'outbid', 'missed out', 'couldn't afford him' and 'priced out of the move'. Stuff like this always makes me laugh.

Because it's true? For us wouldn't == couldn't...

I very much doubt he is earning 70k a week at Fulham but he is likely to have been offered more than we were prepared to pay.

it always happens mate, im beyond caring anymore. when i play my fifa career the commentators keep talking about everton comparing themselves to liverpool etc. its just ****e but we've heard it all before. all that matters is what we care about our club, **** the rest

It's not true though; there's players on very good wages at Everton. Arteta was on £70k a week before he went.

The club felt Rodallega simply wasn't worth what he wanted. I don't blame them; it's hard to justify giving someone who had a hard time getting into the Wigan team last season so much money.

Calm down, it's only Hugo Rodallega we're talking about here.

The guy who missed about 10 or so great opportunities at Wigan last year.

The guy who Roberto Martinez dropped for Di Santo.

Calm down.

Arteta was not on £70k per week.

Perhaps, but if we could afford to pay our top players more you think we wouldn't? And then we could offer ppl like Rodellega competitive wages without breaking our wage structure or him becoming one of our top earners.... ergo wouldn't = couldn't

Glad we didn't get him. 2 goals in like 23 games, just be used to sit on the bench and waste some of the wage bill
