Hydrocortisone injection - anyone had it?

Cheers Carlin. Are you quite active too? (being nosy sorry)
Yeah very, I do a lot of hiking in Snowdonia.
What I don't do is carry things that are heavy, run because of the impact, or try and bend too much, like putting socks on for example, I need to use a sock aid so I'm not bending too much.

I had a hip replacement 5 years back at 57, been the best thing ever till couple of weeks back when West Midland Buses went on strike for the week, I went from walking 5 to 8 mile a day to 20 to 25, by the end of the week my hip in agony, my son is a Physio and told me to use ice packs and rest but it's not worked, He reckons it looks like the new hip wore out already,

Have you had them xrayed at all?

I'd heard nothing but good things about them. I had one about 10 years ago (arthritic ankle) and it lasted about half hour, but it was a wonderful pain free half hour. Just didn't work for me that time unfortunately, but I'd try another one.
As @4737carlin has first hand experience about the hip replacements they know far better, but I can only echo their sentiments courtesy of an ex-neighbour who was an ex rugby league player, he was absolutely delighted and his quality of mobility/life went up massively.

Yeah they are life changing, also they do feel weird, especially in the cold but it's not the pain it once was.
I wonder if it was rugby that did his?

Is your ankle OK now?

Had a cortisone injection about 4 years ago. My ankle was in bad shape with arthritis and ligament damage, I was in a lot of pain. It worked really well but only lasted for about a month. I had an ankle fusion operation soon after so haven't needed one since.

As per title, I've been offered these for an old hip injury that's started to play up quite persistently.

I'm relatively young for a hip replacement/ resurfacing but it's gonna be unavoidable soon I reckon.

I'm just in a quandary about the injections as I've heard good and bad about them.

Anyone had any experience of them?
DM Yerry via instagram, reckon he might have some experience!

I'm pretty sure it was for him.
Had my third op (fusion) on one ankle in 2015. Got me off all the medication, but can never run again which was and still is gutting. My other ankle is at the start of the fusion project as I had a clean out op in 2019. Never had problems with it before, but must be a compensatory thing for the other one being out of commission.
I understand the weird feeling in the cold. I biked to work today it was -3 always the same feeling in the cold - where the pins are. Day to day I'm much better than I was though and more importantly very little medication.
How about you?

Problems with your hips? I've had two full hip replacements, both in my 30s, so you say you are too young but don't take it for granted.
The science behind them is really moving forward, my first I'm told would last 15 years but the second i had 3 years later they put 20 years on, so in three years they had really moved forward. My first has lasted 19 years now and is perfect, but I do look after it.
This isn't really answering your direct question I know but if you are heading in that direction the waiting list is long, could even be 12 months long depending were you live, so don't put it off if you get offered to go on the list.

My mate had to wait 18 months to see a specialist last month about his hip replacement. Should be getting it in August
