any quick way round it guys, I've started posting erroneous messages on other threads to build it up to 50 - seems a bit daft not to mention questionable and time consuming(y), any help please

btw thanks for many of the suggestions and responses, as it happens said respondent read this post and furnished his email address.

Case resolved.

It's to prevent spam. Basically, people signing up and then flooding everyone and anyone with advertisements via PMs.

Spam is a nuisamce but not being able to speak to some of my peers who are more lurkers is far more frustrating.

Do you think you will be able to think up a better system?

Spam is a disgusting lump of pink meat like substance that should be avoided at all costs, unless you're Scottish in which case it should be deep fried and eaten.

I have got 50 but there's no point if someone I want to speak to has for example 11 posts in 3 years and are aged 60+ so it'll be about 12 years before they can reply at that rate!

If you don't mind it being public you can just go to their profile and put a visitor message on there.

What reason's that? Most of the older fellas on here don't post as much as the younger ones but still have reason to use the private messaging.

Spam amongst other things. Also stops wind ups from RAWK etc from signing up and sending horrendous abuse via PM, which has happened before. This is a free forum, so asking new users to post 50 times is a polite gesture to show they are sound. If they are not banned or infracted after 50 posts then it seems fair to let them use the site features of PM's etc. It's supposed to be a community thing, give AND take.

Sounds to me though, you're not bothered how much spam mess is created and abusive PM's sent as long as you can contact someone on here and get what you're after.

Try and consider the admin, as we do it all for free.

Most agree the system is fine. But i'm sure if the site owner agrees with you, he will probably change it.

That's not out of the question all the time, though it is far from ideal most of the time.

Could there be a time lapse on posting rather than a post count? ie if you've been a member for 3 months, logged on x number of times maybe? There's some very interesting and significant Evertonians on here especially from yesteryear who many don't realise because they rarely post.

The time lapse is a good shout, although i'm personally not sure how that would work.

Thing is though, it's a forum, where people post stuff.
