I think Formula 1 just died today....

gutted about that decision. it really is a joke at the FIA. hopefully lewis can shove this decision down their throat but you just know he will lose the title by the margin of points he lost.

to only good thing is that (unrelated) the is going to be a korean GP in 3 years. happy, happy days!

He'll be alright, terrible rainy racing weather over here in Singapore at the moment and that means Massa will be absolutely useless.

Not that Hamilton's brilliant in the wet, but he'll be odds on to stretch out his lead in the standings by a few more points if nothing else.

I'm no fan of Hamilton. His driving style annoys me, there's no need to over take someone then force them off the track as well.

I used to watch F1 all the time but for me it died the day Ayrton Senna was killed. Never sat down to watch it since and probably never will again.

Excellent news, LH quite clearly broke the rules and tried to cheat to get a victory. McClaren are just bitter

to be fair, he gained an advantage by cutting the chicane (in order to avoid a collision), and he handed the advantage back before the next corner.

For the FIA to refuse to even hear the argument smells a bit funny

But if he would have done things properly he wouldnt have been anywhere near the ferrari to re overtake

hmmm, not too sure about that. the ferrari was going backwards at that point and as the rain was coming down lewis is a better driver.

it will just make the victory even more sweeter when mclaren win.

but spa is a race every driver wants to win, so it is a shame for lewis.

If he didnt cut the corner and simply slowed down to take the correct route, the ferrari would have been off into the distance. Not saying he wouldnt have re-overtook at some point because as you said the ferrari was going backwards and eventually off in the rain. But at that point LH committed an offence which he was rightly punished for

tbh, i looked at the footage and it was nothing that you don't see race in race out. a driver over commits, cuts the corner and then gives the place he made up. it was 2 corners later he stuck the move on him so i don't see where he broke the rules.

And the fact that when they crossed the start/finish line Hamilton was behind and verified to be 6mph slower than Raikkonen. Add into the fact that McLaren contacted race control who assured them that LH was legal, TWICE!

LH was going to have Raikkonen anyway. The rain was coming down and the McLaren is better in the rain. He made two overtaking maneuvers, got away withone and stuck the other. The precedent has been set though, all drivers MUST now be hit with a drive-through if they cut the chicane. And in fact, they should hand out retrospective drive through penalties to all the other drivers who cut that chicane at Spa.

I think it was more the corners he did it at that caused the offense. There very strict on chicanes

Spot on. If he'd braked and taken the chicane rather than cutting it he'd have been far further back (and much more than 6kph slower due to the loss of momentum). Unquestionably gained an advantage by cutting the chicane and all the other drivers agree with that.

Stupid because he'd have got past within a lap anyway.

And McLaren asked Charlie Whiting's opinion twice. He's not a steward....and if they thought there was nothing wrong why did they ask his opinion in the first (and second) place? Hamilton was so much faster he should simply have dropped back and then the stewards wouldn't have been an issue.

The right decision without a doubt.
