Iconic Rock pre 1980

My female has just stated that if none of you suggest "sweet child o mine" then I'm not to take any of you seriously.

Sake.
You made the rules. If you give me the '80s and early '90s, I'm likely to send you to things like Alice in Chains, Collective Soul and Joe Satriani that didn't come up first. I would send you to the twelve good GnR songs (including that one) that they conveniently put on one album for us, though.

I just filtered all that when scrolling through what the local station had played in the last day and a half.

Iconic, not ones I like that much in some cases.

Highway to Hell. (Love)
Whole Lotta Love. (Meh, Page didnt even write it)
Satisfaction. (Pretty much launched a band that still tour)
Purple Haze. (Rewrote rock)
My Generation. (Mods? Rockers? Who (sic) knows?)
Think it was The Who... Who else?
😜

Interesting... How so? Did someone else claim to have written it?

Sorry, my post was misleading. Deffo a Who song.

But when I was at school, what, 40 plus years ago, "Mods" made a comeback, Parkas, scooters, the lot. Was probably cos of The Jam and a few others. I was a denim jacket "Rocker", but loved The Who, so I called them Rockers, not Mods. Got into some scrapes as a result. 3rd world problems eh?

I know these guys hardly get a mention, but after Clapton left Cream and Winwood left traffic, they formed a band together and made one album.

One of my old man's favorites.
