ID Cards in the UK

I'd carry one by choice, but i'd resent it if it was to be compulsory.I've nothing to hide...except for my infectious personality, charm & splendour.
 
no, lets spend the cash on more nuclear plants, more police on the streets, more prisons, and better border patrols.

id cards would only help monitor the law abiding.

Why? Even a kid who is born abroad but moves here with his family at 3 months old?

Personally i'm not bothered either way really. We already have numerous types of differing id so if it was to get rid of driving licenses, passports etc and have them all combined in 1 card that would be a good idea but would cost god knows how much.

I really cant see them being of any major benefit other that making money by charging for them and making them compulsory then whacking fines on for people without them.

We have such a high percentage of illegal immigrants in this country we must try and identify them them forcing their return to the country of origin. If some one is here legally fine by me but when they flout the law then that is another matter. I have nothing at all to hide, nothing to be ashamed of and would welcome there introduction any day. What I am sick and tired of is the likes of Liberty protesting about this without ever offering an alternative other than on going illegal immigration and never send anyone home. We are an island and are rapidly reaching 'sorry full up' stage. Environmentally. economically we can not take any more illegals otherwise our own population will suffocate.

Anyone against ID's lets have alternatives rather than no

So how will ID cards solve that problem? Tougher border controls would surely be a better option if ID cards are purely to be used on the illegal immigration issue.

As for ones already here they presumably have no ID now either so Id cards wont make any difference.
 
Guess there is the argument that if youve done nothing wrong then there is no need to worry about them. It doesnt bother me to much if they were intro'd
