He might not be the best player in the world but some of this criticism is wild. Championship player? We have finished 7th and 8th with him in midfield and Lille were in the Europa League while he was there. He is far and away our best center midfield and we should sell him because he isn't as good as Kante and can't pass like Modric. Unreal

Been saying for a while it's his lack of positional discipline that gets us in trouble. He goes chasing the ball in areas he shouldn't and if he doesn't win the ball he has left a hole in the middle that the opposition exploits. Seems some only see statistics and work rate.

He may not have to do that if others in the team bothered to put some effort in.

Gueye is a much better footballer than some give him credit for. This whole "doesn't like to pass forward" stuff is proper caveman thinking.

He is somewhat of a system player though. I don't think you can just plug him in to a side and get the best out of him.

he's very good at the job he does, the problem is he doesn't work well with schneiderlin next to him, it should always be 1 or the other but for the past 18 months it's been both

He's a Paul Bracewell type of player, tigerish, good at winning the ball, and decent on the ball defensively. Unfortunately, we haven't got anyone remotely like Peter Reid to put next to him, and that's where our midfield constantly breaks down. No drive, no bite, no leadership.

I know. It's simply unreal. Can we crack Top 4 with him? Probably not. But we've been closer to relegation than Top 4 since we finished 5th under Bobby based on points. We cannot buy a whole new central midfield of world class quality right now, it's not realistic.

His competition is that snake Schneids and the very young and woefully inconsistent Tom Davies.

But yeah, let's sell Gana right now b/c he ain't good enough

He's a high energy midfielder that isn't too spectacular in any one area but ok in a lot of areas. Don't know that he is suited to a 433.
