Is this thread for real? He gave the ball away so many times. His distribution is so so bad. Yes he got a bit better as the game went on and made a few interceptions. That is the least I expect from a so called DM. He then reverted to type and gave the ball away again, under no pressure, setting them away on a counterattack right at the end.

I swear, some people watch a different game sometimes.

Disagree. He had a couple loose passes early and the bonehead play at the end but he was really good and is the primary ball winner in the team. Without him we have less possession
 
He really should keep the ball and wasted some time with that freekick towards the end. If he costed us with that silly decision...

3rd most passes in the team.
3rd best passing accuracy (excluding Schneiderlin who only played 20 minutes).
Dispossessed 0 times.
Second most tackles.
Most interceptions.
Most blocked shots.

But didn't score 3 and setup 2.... Liability. Get rid.

Well, statistically speaking he didn’t give the ball away many times at all, so it might be your perception that’s the problem.

Pass to a player near the corner flag during added time, hold onto the ball instead of giving it away. What’s the problem of that? Wasting time when it’s appropriate. This is football this is about winning matches.

The problem is that people see what they want to see and those that like him will ignore his mistakes and focus on the positives, and those who don't rate him as highly will choose to pick up on the things he did wrong.

I actually agree with your point about him giving the ball away so often (in the first half), and that give away at the end was awful and could have cost us. But even in the first half he still played an important part with his closing down and off the ball stuff. Second half he was excellent and deserves the praise he has got on here.
