Anybody who thinks we can do without Gana - as the squad is currently - needs a good head check.

Nice caveat there...no one is saying to not play Gana.

What were saying is that we need an upgrade and if we need to sell him to bring in that new plaher we should do so.

That would still leave the problem of if the upgrade got injured, we’re back to Davies in the middle.

Heaven help us if Gana and Gomes got injured.

A better bet would be to get rid of Schneiderlin and the perma crock McCarthy, keep Gana and get another proper quality centre mid in.

How much would those 2 bring in + Besic? Perhaps £20mil?

If we sold Gana that becomes £40-50mil.

I do think we need to bring in a couple of powerful players who can be box-to-box.

I think for me the values would be £60mil for Ndombele, £40mil for Doucoure and perhaps £25mil for Billing at Huddersfield.

I guess it just depends on what we want...

well said. Too often it's taken out of context.

An upgrade needed. Simple as that. Not just get rid of him and then do nothing to replace him...

I thank Jesus every single day that you are not our DoF.

Agree, Zatman, but some are saying we can do without him. At the moment, we can't.

But yes, in an ideal world we'd upgrade. I just don't think you can really upgrade (in terms of players we could realistically sign atm) on his defensive abilities. But we could probably upgrade in terms of an all-round player, although it would be tough, if ya get me.\

Also, merry Christmas!

Sell Niasse, too, you'd at least have 30M to play with, add in any loan fees that could help in the salary department.

You just can't sell him at this point, Zat. There's no way.

Just how quickly would people expect a manager to build a top six team?

Recent results have been a disaster but a manager does deserve some patience and a chance to build a team to their liking.
We cannot keep sacking managers after a run of poor defeats. We have got to give them time and some money.

Spurs have done really well in the transfer market, buying well and not over spending but even they probably face a challenge in the summer to keep their manager and possibly their better players.
We e have to accept some bumps along the road and Sunday was a serious one.

Hes got the Jan window and summer to push for 6th next season...fine for 7th but a distance between 8th.

Its the following season we should be aiming to be in the top 6 to stay.
