Generally we lose total control of the midfield when he isn't playing. The 2nd half against Luton for one. Supporters have to consider the opposition before deciding to chuck him in the bin, Bournemouth were undoubtedly the worst team to show up at Goodison this season.

When we play aggressive teams or the ones with quality where most of the game will be spent deep in our own half then we'll need him still.
I think he still has his use tactically, but shouldn't be starting.

Individually, he's been making mistakes with bad touches/back passes that have been putting us under unnecessary pressure or turn over any momentum, not to mention his shooting which wastes good possession in the final third. Him being dropped is a long time coming only thanks to Dyche's stubborness.

I don’t understand why anyone would put him back in for the derby. The amount of times he loses the ball in dangerous positions will definitely be punished by big red. It was bad enough against Brentford.

I thought Garner did a fine job closing down opposition and intercepting. The added bonus of being good on the ball.

For that reason, Gueye is benched for me.

Gana is Allan in tackle and Hleb in possession, not bad for a squad player. Will (strong might) be key if used with Garner and Onana in some of the future games.

No chance we should be trying to offload him still the best ball winner at the club.

Gana (153) Ony Caiceido (156) and Palhinha (193) made more interceptions and tackles than him in the PL last season he had more than Declan Rice.
Problem he has is his ball distribution but then almost all of Evertons midfield have the same problem.
That metric stands for different things if your team dominates possession vs likes to give the ball away quilty. It's like people playing three way catch and Gana is bouncing his off the wall.

Gana needs to be offered a smaller rolling contract so that he can be the stabilizing force in our relatively young midfield.

Was good to see Garner and Onana look good together yesterday but Gueye still comes right back into the team for Liverpool imo.
Definitely, especially when I remember Onana’s performance in the Derby at Anfield last season when he was dragged off after another disappearing act during the game, we need battlers in Derby games and every game to be honest.

Sadly, his day has gone. PSG knew what they were selling back to us. He is washed up, and not worthy of Premier league games, unless in case of emergency, from the bench. We need young, hungry, intellegent midfielders like Garner, Harrison, McNeill. Onana, on the other hand ,i am really not sure about. Always appears to be a yard away from winning the ball, doesn't have great concentration levels, goes missing for 20minutes at a time during games. A rare skill.

100% he'll be back in the starting 11 if fit.

When Dyche was asked about Onana and rumours of him being late so he got dropped he said it wasn't the case at all, he wanted Gueye in there for his experience and that's why Onana was dropped.

Gueyes experience.....for Bournemouth.....at home. So if he thinks we need his experience for Bournemouth at home, he'll definitely want him in midfield against the rs away.

I think Dyche would be a mug for changing the Garner Onana midfield partnership. They compliment each other very nicely. When he has played Gana and Onana in midfield with Garner on the right, the balance isn’t right. And at times with Doucoure dropping deep and Garner coming inside, there seems “Too many Cooks”.
