Benevolent aliens - yes - just think of the medicine and tech they might share. Plus it would put the kibosh on most religions (hopefully).

Capitalist/greedy/exploitative aliens on the other hand, (see above), would be no good- although at my age it would at least be interesting to watch, as humanity is going down the pan anyway.
