If we'd gone down...

The big salaried mercenaries would hang on too the bitter end of their contracts until we cease to exist. These are our beloved modern day ballers.

If we'd gone down
If we'd gone down
I'm out of my head can't take it
Could I be wrong
But since we'd gone down
Ev cast a spell to break it

It's a lot easier to go down next May as so many players contracts are over. Everyday is a day closer to BMD. No idea long term on Moshiri. No rumours of super talent wonder kids in the youth sides. We exist to exist.

Fortunately, we don't have to think about this much. I reckon the team would look something like this:

Begovic
Patterson
Keane
Tarkowski
Mykolenko
Davies
(New Mid)
Warrington
McNeil
Gray
Cannon

Let's hope this is a conversation which is never had.
The defenders and keeper kept Everton up. The other clubs mentioned, Leicester and Leeds may have better attacking players but conceded far too many goals. Hence they can sell valuable attackers such as Gnonto and Maddison while being in the championship, I am not sure either club has sold a defender nor keeper. Pickford would be Everton's most valuable asset and worth £100 million to Everton, £40 million to other clubs, I guess.

Just watching the Leeds game on sky and now their team looks now. Also noted that many Southampton and Leicester players have moved on.

If we'd have gone down, and we were playing in the championship tonight, what would our team look like?

Other than onana I can't see big money bids coming in for our players, unlike Leeds, Leicester and Southampton have had. Which is strange really considering we stayed up and they never.

We would be the same as leeds, not this version, the David o’Leary version… that had heaps of players on massive contracts that Leeds had to give away and then subsidise their wages.

Iwobi, holgate, gomes, gbamin would all have stayed and kept their wages.

We would be in big trouble

We didn't go down so let's not even bother trying to imagine what the hellscape of a relegated Everton would look like
This. Praise 8lb baby Jesus we survived. Lettuce never discuss it again (until the next time we are in the relegation battle in mid May).
