The current side lacks a deadly predator upfront so I'd have to say Gary Lineker as easily the best goalscorer I've seen play for the club.

We need about 4 players back, that way we can plug some holes up. I agree with the people that we have more pressing needs than a goalkeeper at the moment so if we could get Rats, Ball, Kanchelskis and Dixie (depending if we get him fit for modern football - was it just pap defenders back in the day?) or Lineker then we would become a better team.

You could say the same about any past player
Players fitness regime , diet , lifestyle etc has changed dramatically in the last 20 years.

Beardsley is one of the most under rated players of all time. Whoever he played with always scored buckets of goals (apart from mo Johnston obviously ) liniker got golden boot at Mexico 86 , rush scored heaps , andy cole scored 42 league goals in his first prem season for Newcastle playing along side him. He was such a good player and scored a decent amount of goals himself. I was devastated when we sold him for 1m .. think I was 14 then couple of years later southall retired. Prepared me for Rooney leaving tho I was older . Anyway was a toss up between nev and Beardsley and has to be Beardsley I reckon he could even get sandro scoring 15+ a season
