Was listening to something about food banks on 5Live on the way home, Upset me tbh, How can people in this country get to the point were they need to go to a food bank to survive?

It's ok though, We are sorting out the rest of the worlds problems

The DFID describe their mission like this:

“The Department for International Development (DFID) leads the UK’s work to end extreme poverty. We’re ending the need for aid by creating jobs, unlocking the potential of girls and women, and helping to save lives when humanitarian emergencies hit.”

Since 2002 all UK international aid has to be aimed at eradicating poverty.

Its not a case of the government should help by sending him a couple of tins a soup, its a case of the government should help by making sure the best they can no one who lives in the country they govern can't afford to buy food in the first place.

Of course once someone is in that position then community should and probably will help.

If we want to survive at all as a species we need to move use other planets and look at places like the moon for resources. Completely irrelevant to the thread like.
