So say you were in Everton's business/marketing department - what would you do to raise the profile of the club? What sort of strategies would you employ to take Everton from best of the rest/second club in the city to a major force? Do you think it requires silverware/huge on pitch investment?

I think I'd start by employing a few social media specialists to engage the community - Evertonians and non via Twitter/Facebook/Youtube. The key would be to identify the major draws of the Everton brand probably history and tradition, but the school of science and people's club lines are good selling points as well.

Just a fun thought exercise. A way to think proactively about areas the club can improve off the pitch.

...simple, win things.
If only it were that simple.

I agree that this is the best way, but given that we don't have a rich owner it becomes much more difficult to purchase the best players. As such, the club needs to generate revenue more effectively to raise the cash to purchase the players to win things, which raises more revenue and we end up in a very nice cycle indeed.

It's of course possible that we win without increasing our revenues first - a great youth academy is the first step there, but it would certainly be easier to achieve the goal of winning things if we could bring in more money before winning things.

winning silverware! also drop kitbag sell the shirts all over the place get the everton brand out there, the deal with kitbag only lets us sell shirts in our store or on there website its a joke

England winning the world cup with our superstar players being joint man of the match in the final. Jags, Stones, Baines and Rossatron with 10/10 from all the red top newspapers

Regardless of the "forthcoming stadium developments", turn the perception of Goodison around, the club seems to treat it as a millstone but we've got the oldest purpose built football ground in the best league in the world, the history and heritage of GP is something Everton should really bang a drum about. There's no other ground can touch it.
Its virtually impossible I'm sure, but I'd love to see the metal cladding off the outside of the Bullens and the Gwladys.

You can do nothing really. Giving away a few free derby tickets during the break in the middle of Blood brothers.
