Improving Everton's Profile

You can do nothing really. Giving away a few free derby tickets during the break in the middle of Blood brothers.
Free tickets may not be a terrible idea?

How about we cordon a section of say 1000 seats and sell tickets for a fiver to anyone under 16? Builds the local youth support, sows the seeds for a brighter future.

Everton are apparently very good in the community, but this is poorly broadcast. Making Everton appear to be a local community club would certainly help its image in the US.

Kitbag definitely has to go, but can we sell other merchandise in the meantime? Mugs (@GrandOldTeam) seem to be a big hit (still need to buy mine, and you should to!). Is any of that covered under kitbag?

Partner with fan websites to get the word out - use them rather than old media if the media treats us poorly. I mean, if they sell our players in the papers every year, why don't we swerve them and give our scoops to fan run sites?

Woo the media. We don't have enough 'high profile' media people talking positively about the club as lesser clubs like Spurs do.

Should be said that the majority of the way the club conducts itself is excellent numerous social media awards, the hillsborough justice campaign and support offered to the families and fans of football affected and EITC is a superb award winning scheme.

We need the stadium everything will come from getting a new stadium bigger revenue streams lower running costs, more attractive to investors and potentially cheaper ticket prices getting more fans through the door

IMHO kenwrights biggest failing is not having this sorted over the last 15 years

i'd fly to the moon and stick a giant everton flag right into the top of it.

and then stick the new badge right in uranus.

As far as improving Everton's brand overseas, think doing more media work focusing on the Irish links might be profitable.
We have a good section of the current national team playing for us with player links as far back as Dixie Dean and Roberto seems to be continuing the tradition with Stephen Kinsella and possibly Ryan Robinson.

NBC has made the premier league so much more accessible to US viewers this season and there will be casual watchers who are just looking for reasons to support a specific team. On recent visits to Ireland their tourist board seems to have done well targeting Americans with Irish roots, why shouldn't we?

Merchandise should be everywhere!
In sports shops, in shopping centres, department stores - soft furnishings, in airports - people buy a lot of stuff in airports.
Making a profit shouldn't be the biggest concern, but improving access to all things Everton.
I mean with Chang as our sponsor there should at least be an Everton shop in Bangkok city and at the airport.

People need to see the club's name, like they do for Barca, Real, United, PSG, Bayern.
Huge potential out there, just not with kitbag.

Stadium tours - seriously promote them to visitors to Liverpool. Sell tickets for tours at the airport and city centre. Run a free bus out to the stadium for those who purchase a tour ticket. Set up a decent museum either in, or beside the stadium. Incorporate a whole day of Everton, including meals, possibly visits to the training ground complex, even meeting players where possible.

Sell match tickets at the airport! Someone flying through might buy them as a present for someone or a future visit. A shop at Liverpool airport. It would make sense to me.

When people like Elstone who might believe that there is nothing wrong with the past strategy in terms of level of communication with the public then perhaps we can do nothing about it.

I see what you mean though.

I would establish a UN working party to place a professional market valuation on the sale price for the club. I would then force Kenwright to sell at this price by use of waterboarding techniques.

Yeah, I think the biggest issue we have is Elstone seemingly perfectly happy with our business strategy (and yes, the board seemingly agreeing). I don't think we'll do any of this. But it's a fun break from saying they're terrible to saying, "Here's what I would do in their place."

It just seems like there is so much potential for increasing the 'size' of the club without necessarily requiring a trophy or a sale.

I do think the most direct way of increasing the profile of the club is to get a takeover. A really big and good one.

An ideal world is sadly not the one we live in.

For Everton to be successful long term without a rich owner, we have to be the best at every aspect of the business side. We're not, obviously, and for what are probably obvious reasons. I am trying to keep this from simply being a 'board is awful' thread - we have one of those. This is, 'if you were Elstone, given the current financial circumstances of the club, how would you try and help Everton to kick on from your position?'

Clearly if we can just ensure that every signing we make is a huge success, there's nothing to stop honours following. Go ed Roberto, make us dream without real money.........no pressure.
