Industrial espionage in football

Compare this with the 'relatively' minor situation of 'spygate' that Leeds United were involved in. Football authorities and media all over it. Deliberately hacking into computers is far more serious but, of course, its Liverpool FC so brush it under the carpet. Like the slap on the wrist they got over the disgraceful attack on the Man City team bus. Plus hefty police presence but no arrests made.

It's not really imaginable to think of the outrage if it was the other way around and City had hacked the computers at Liverpool. It would be off the scale!

Its long time since I posted a thread on here but one news story covered in the Times has been basically ignored by the other media including Sky, Sun, Express and local press and media outlets. The upshot of what has been alleged amounts to a criminal offense, lack of coverage needs rectifying and some very serious questions asked of our neighbours.

TheTimes claims that Manchester City has been paid £1,000,000 compensation for the hacking of their computer system covering the junior team and youth sides. They identify the culprits as LFC who when asked replied they do not discuss such things. This apparent cover-up begs the question of how many other clubs have had this type of intrusion without being aware, as it seems improbable that just one club has been hacked. The FA seem happy with this compensation deal thus making them complicit in this illegal practice. Were the police involved, if not why not? Surely theft of this description is against the law and the miscreants brought to book.

Any of you Blues have any insight or information about this?

Do we need other evidence about preferential treatment shown to those who simply do not deserve it,

Good to see you about my old friend, hope your keeping well and the very best wishes to you and the family.

Id say this is the tip of the ice berg and its ironic its City as they are up to their neck in far worse in my opinion, Der Spiegal has some top stuff on them and as we know they have enjoyed sanctions at under age themselves. Whole thing looks like a bit of sweet heart deal to me, between the RS and City as id say both have history with this type of thing. RS had their own sanctions at recruiting under age. Id say this type of thing is common enough really, if one does it everyone will try it to try and compete.

Certainly id say an independent investigation of the whole of football in to this would uncover some disturbing stuff, but the PL dont do independent investigations as long as the gravy keeps coming in.

Hi Pal
Wife is still going after chemo she's now heading for a month of radiotherapy, she's fighting it like mad.
I couldn't agree more with you about the level of corruption in football but unless we, the fan's, protest about it nothing will be done. If this accusation had been levelled against ourselves SSN would have been running special news bulletins condemning the club, fans and any one remotely associated with us. There are so many unanswered questions that the media haven't bothered to ask making them complicit to the whole corrupt iceberg, as you say the gravy train. All these fan websites should have a joint site into which stories like this can be sent to all clubs. With this story being in the media the police must have seen it, whilst Citeh hasn't made a formal complaint nobody has bothered to ask how many other club's have been abused in this fashion.

a fella round the corner from me has worked at the academies for R/s, City & Utd so I'd imagine he'd have known others passwords etc the same as others would have known his & quite a few moved around apparently so knowledge of players would be there anyway.

Ah sorry to hear about your fairer half mate, a tough journey ive been through with people close as well, so thinking of her and you guys as a family, its a tough journey for all and my very best wishes.

I do sometimes wonder, of how passive we are in the face of corruption in football, it seems we are often blinded by the lights of limited success, transfer rumors, drama and glitzy ticker tapes on SSN. I certainly believe international football for example is fixed and have o time for it as a representative competition of fairness.

No body questions media, or its decisions or how clubs are portrayed. When you look at it its a cozy cartell, SSN for example need MU, Chelsea, Norway, City etc. They push their profile, generate an interest and get mores subscribers. This devalues real journalism and papers over the cracks of real corruption, cartels and nefarious activity.

The game badly needs an independent journalism, looking at issues like underage tappig up - what really goes on, poaching managers and players, hacking, agents and their fees and broadly what Citys ownership are doing, buying clubs around the world and at what cost, certainly their are allegations of human rights violations by their owners in their countries of origin.

Yet there is not one, journalist either in written or visual media who will do independent objective reporting of any of these issues, media and football has become a closed cartel where everyone is happy just to get to fat on the gravy train and as fans we have conditioned into just accepting it, amidst the glitz and, glamour and drama of it all.

It’s a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act of 1990 amongst other offences depending on the outcome of the illegal access - fraud, GDPR etc etc.

The FA should have been bypassed and criminal charges brought, but I suspect City may not like having the whole practice in the media spotlight. Why? Well...

Man City were fined for complaining and Liverpool were awarded six points.

You'd be surprised about the FFP thing as much as the Under-age thing which City were found not guilty of. There's an awful lot of [Poor language removed] flyoing City's way in the media, ffp, links to yemeni war, human rights in AbuDhabi, crowd trouble, Bernardo doing racist things, empty seats, disrespect to lower league teams, ruining football, spending lots more than everyone else, highest wages, Pep himself taking bungs, tactical fouls, so much [Poor language removed] it's unbelievable.

All of the above has been whipped up by a media who are desparate for LFC to win, it sells better.

So, knowing I will get flamed for this - I really dont think FFP will be as big as the media have hyped up, it dates back to 2012/13, came after EUFA moved the FFP goal posts so City would not meet the requirements, UEFA had already sanctioned us and fined us, the investigation itself has been compromised by leaks from within UEFA, FFP itself was setup to protect teams like Bayern, United etc and to stop "New money" taking over the the top table. The very concept of FFP itself would be under the spotlight... honestly I think it will be a let off on a techincality because UEFA themselves would be turned over by any findings.

Go on hit me with it!
