He's not a striker...hes a centre forward.

What we need is to have 2/3 attacking midfielders push into space around him for knockdowns.
Semantics Zat.
Striker, centre forward, number 9....whatever you want to call him, and whatever fancy modern name you want to apply to his position his job his to finish the chances he is provided with. He trains all week to slot, just as Pickford trains all week to keep them out and Tarkowski trains all week to protect Pickers’ goal.
He isn’t, never has been and never will be an elite-level finisher, and realistically to be the main goal provider in any top league team you have to be able to finish.
Him not signing a contract has been a grave error on his part - his career will only go backwards when he moves on because better teams than us will want more able and consistent finishers. He may go abroad or sit on someone’s bench like Newcastle or Brighton but there’s zero chance of him starting week in, week out at a top 10 team.

These knock-downs you talk about.....what are they? His heading ability is erratic at best.

….surprised me too. I thought Gueye was terrific, I mistook him for Ndiaye at times
I call him ‘The Insurance Man’.....feel so much more comfortable when he’s in the side protecting the back four. Played some neat stuff going forward yesterday too. Always been underrated in my opinion.
