Is football 'rationally racist'?

Really believe it is not any more. Racism used to be a problem but i think its largely diminished now. Of course, there will always be pcokets of it in some ned-brained football hooligans amongst some supports but i think its largely been eroded over the past 20 years or so
Read my initial posts. Both of those studies were done recently. People may not be overtly racist but pre-conceived notions on sections of society do appear to exist still. We're not talking throwing bananas here, we're talking a perception that a particular section of society has a particular skill-set.

Well, maybe im just a plain and simple guy, but i take more notice of whats happening in practise than in tests and psychological reports and evaluations. Like i said above, i think great strides have been taken in combatting racism and the results are evident today. Can appreciate what your trying to say Bruce but to be honest, tests like the one you outlined above dont really bother me, anyone can prove anything if they ahve a mind to it. Thats just my opinion btw, but there you go.
In practise, racism has been eroded and i think it has got into the mindset of supporters and anyone else connected in the game. What we saw twenty years ago or so is no longer tolerated and I believe, apart from a small minority of extremists/hooligans, racism is no longer evident in the game or amongst supporters
