What do you think of Phil Neville as a captain? Do you see anyone more suited to the role or are you happy as it is?
For me Neville's no leader on the pitch, you can see that when the other players bollock him! I dont even think he should be playing in the Prem to be honest! Anyway thats just me, I reckon Jagielka maybe or Cahill look more suited. Please nobody say Fernandes!

Cahill would do for me, no doubt he has a massive influence on the team. I think Neville is a great captain, but the fact that he is almost a permanent fixture in our side, most likely for this reason, is what worries me.

There's no doubt that Neville's reasonable in front of the camera. Shame that he's a rubbish player. The capt needs to be someone the players respect which suggests Cahill, Jags or Lescott. Joey anyone?

I seem to recall that Martin Dobson was appointed Club Captain by the then manager (Bingham? Lee?) which meant that he got to do interviews and school visits and the like. The Team Captain was in charge on the pitch.

That would be a good use for Nevilles talents. Just make sure the he did the duties on Saturday's at 3.00 pm:P

ive said yobo in the past.
but thinking about it i think the order should be....

neville , cahill , jags , carsley , yobo

i dont think we have anyone else who's captain material.

Its got to be Lescott. He's our most consistent player, our best player seems to drive us forward alot of the time.

Cahill has the attributes but are we positive he'll be in the team next season? If we buy two centre midfielders who can play in a four man midfield and possibly a striker Tim could find himself on the bench.

Currently Osman and Fernandes are better out and out centre midfielders than him and a new striker or even a fully fit James Vaughan could contribute more goals than him.

It will be very interesting to see where he fits in. No doubt he's the man when we play 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1 but if where looking to play 4-4-2 and I think we are he's not a guaranteed starter.

Lescott for me with Cahill as vice captain.

Cahills the best midfielder we have got, not only is he important linking up with players, he scores goals too, he would never be on the bench unless hes still injured.

It has to be Jagielka for me. He knows what it means to be an Evertonian he is going to be the mainstay of our defence for many years, the new Waggy, admittedly so is Lescott (I hope) however I just have this feeling that Phil is going to be the man to lead us. Lescott is to inexperienced and Cahill to injury prone, you have to pick someone who is going to play every game. On the sentimental side if Cars signs a new contract I would like to see him handed the role, although probably not going to play all the games either. Phil Jagielka is the man for me. Unless we sign Gattusso then he will demand it. I can dream can't I.

I'm afraid he's not. Arteta, Pienaar and Osman are alot more important to us. Cahill only plays well when he has creativity behind him. I'll agree he does make the 4-5-1 happen but only if people provide for him and create space.

Cahill on his own is just a combative midfielder. A more attacking version of Carsley so to speak. He doesn't have any outstanding qualities bar aerial ability. He's not comfortable in a four man midfield either. He can do a job there and he gives you alot of energy but other than that not much.

If Moyes is looking at reverting to 4-4-2 and I've got a feeling he is then I can't see where Cahill fits in unless we buy a play maker and a defensive midfield rolled into one who would compliment him. If we go 4-5-1 then he's the main man.

I think this is one of them times that we will never agree, but cahill is 10 times the player Osman is, which other midfielder has gotten 10 goals this season? and cahills been out for half them matches too.

Neville is a good captain and a great leader.

He's lead us to 5th and 6th in his 2 seasons.
