Is Premier League Boring?

7 games left and any of the top 9 could feasibly finish with a CL spot. It’s arguable the most competitive the league has been outside of the relegation battle and the league winners.

I think the idea it’s become boring is mainly because of the media concentration on the so called top 6. They have been boring. But Villa, Bournemouth, Forest have all put on some outstanding displays.

I read today that that there had been an average of 2.94 goals per game this year, which puts it ahead of every single year from the 90s, the 00s, and the 2010s - so statistically it’s not boring.
Unfortunately due to VAR the joy of goals has been eroded.

It's dour right now, because of where we are.

I'm sure if we were better and pushing for titles, it'd be far more enjoyable, but even games i sse involving "top" teams are utterly garbage. Spurs - Chelsea, United-City, Liverpool-City, utterly boring.

The PL has became such a well polished product It's almost too polished. Crowds loaded with tourists, VAR spoiling the fun, competitiveness thrown into jeopardy, because clubs like Chelsea and City can do what they want, yet sides threatening the cartel, are restricted.

The gulf between the poor sides in the PL and the best of the Championship is huge.

I go to watch Marine a fair bit now, and I absolutely love it. Staff and players know my name, £10 to get in, beer on the terrace, no VAR. The exposure to non-VAR games, makes my love for footie burn on, whereas my care for the PL is at an all time low.

Its only boring cos we aint in the conversation.
We aren't going to be successful any time soon with current corruption in Premier League, which is another aspect that makes it tedious to watch. I'll give you a few examples. Tarkowskis goal against RS, neither ref or linesman saw anything wrong with goal, yet Sky script ensured they had to look at it for ages. Arsenal get a goal chalked off at GP last season, because Saka was offside, yet RS goal stood when Diaz wad clearly interfering with play and was only offside 2 seconds before his involvement. Penalty we got a Brighton was identical to what happened in derby involving Konate, yet no penalty was given. Our penalty on Saturday was far softer, than penalty we were denied against United. Even Ally McGoist said in commentary, they're showing the wrong angle. Decisions given against RS are looked at for 5 to 10 minutes, yet when RS score or an opposition player commits foul, they don't bother looking at it. City got given penalty, when Onana was 2 yards away, Milner blocks Mcneils [Poor language removed] with his arm, they don't even look at it.

There rally is a lot to be said for games with no VAR

You only have to see the penalty Fulham wasn't given the other day after Kelleher cleaned out one of their players to know how VAR is used 'selectively'

The PL is terrible. Its a corrupt, boring mess. All the individual brilliance has been stamped out and the corruption had never been more in your face. VAR is another nail in the coffin. Nobody wants to spend 10 plus mins every single game waiting on it or not be able to celebrate a goal properly while we wait on it. It's rancid in 2025. The bigger problem is the overall feel. Its not marketed for actual fans and certainly not working class ones who where the roots of the game. Its designed to draw in hipsters who treat the game more like a cultural event or a gig where they go to been seen at. Its little things like the kids holding up signs clearly made by their parents saying "can I have your shirt" to players X. I actually hate modern football thse days. We say it's just the PL because that's what we mostly know but it's crap across-the-board and has the sake problems in most other divisions in this country. People are getting charged something like £40 a ticket to watch league one and two football! Its actually insane. The bigger wustiiis what is there to even like about football in this country these days. I used to watch anything and everything avaliable. Now I can barely tolerate watching us never mind anything else!

Top 4 race will be the best thing about the league this season. Other than that I agree with multiple points from posters.

As soon as us and wolves started picking up points after the managerial changes the bottom 3 was pretty much sealed with months to go.

The title has been over since November/December for me. You could see from watching them that there was something terribly wrong going on at City and Arsenal have had too many injuries to key players at key times to keep up. Salah has basically carried the RS to the title on his back. Without him they would be in the cluster of teams chasing top 4.

It's been a good season for teams who have been able to remain consistent like the RS and Forest. The top 6 is miles behind what it has been in the past though. I still think it will carry over next year so if a top 10 team get it right in the summer and get off to a good start then they have every chance of CL

Personally this season has been worst season ever, an average RS side, who have an appalling defence have managed to comfortably win title. Their nearest challengers Arsenal have managed to continually do their best to drop points. I used to know most players from other clubs, now I don't even bother watching other teams. It it just me that finds modern game tediously boring?
I don't think dropping points is necessary a stick to beat the quality of a league with, 75 points is the lowest total a team has ever won the PL, both Liverpool & Arsenal will make that total i reckon, with Forest probably hitting 70.
Blackburn won it in 95 with 89 points (42 games), if you do your sums in todays points that's 80 points, well below the mid 90s required to win it in recent years

What is dull as you mentioned is any serious challenge, the teams coming up and going down basically being regurgitated between 5-6 clubs (and if its not any those clubs your Luton's & Ipswich's are pretty happy to go back down with a season PL money)

The race for the CL could be interesting, but what has stopped that being interesting is the fact it doesn't really matter, 5 teams could get CL football, hats a quarter of the league and that isn't as prestigious as it once was with its diluted format and stale 'same teams playing each other'

I think 2 biggest switch offs are

1)Style of play
No number 10s, no mavericks, every player basically conditioned to have to be at ultimate peak fitness with analytics and sports science turning every player into a performance robot. every team has 8 or 9 massive fat heads who could run through a brick wall...the game coached out of them (I blame Guardiola).
Analytics telling you that its better to pass the ball sideways and keep the ball moving than attempting a Dwight McNeil blammo from 30 yards.
Planned injury breaks for teams (Arsenal are kings of it) to kill momentum or have a quick tactical chat...they need to be banned straight away)

2) Money
We all know the complaints about money and the jeopardy is just to big, teams aren't bothered about on pitch performance but more concerned about sell on value. Acadmys arent built to produce the next big thing for your first team, but are built to help you supplement your next over priced transfer.
Chelsea's and City's having youth teams of 40-50 lads in each age group. Its mental
