Is "The Athletic" worth it?

I just read that Paddy Boyland piece today.

My question is - why did he write it?

WTF is the point in writing a 2,000 word essay on how Everton haven't got an attack worthy of the name and how we got there?

I mean, talk about a redundant topic.

These people should have their keyboard's confiscated.
I’m not an Athletic supporter but I don’t mind Boyland.

But, football journalism and punditry has got to saturation point now. Every week there’s someone new with a ‘piece’ offering some seemingly brand new and insightful information.

Pundits just say things to seem different to the next one so they stand out. They invent things to have something to write about. The state of football journalism is utterly embarrassing these days.

It wasn't so much a story as a timeline of Everton near misses in the transfer market. Utterly useless.

Any interesting piece about Everton right now would be looking to analyse what Dyche can do with the resources he has, not for the umpteenth time tell us what we know he hasn't got.

I suppose that takes thought and a bit of gumption though.

I think Everton have drawn the short straw a little bit in terms of the journalists covering them in the Athletic. Even before O'Keefe and Headlockgate, a lot of the Everton stuff was quite dull and uninsightful. But some other clubs' coverage is quite good. Just read some good stuff on Leeds today for example
