Garner partnering an attacking midfielder rather than a defensive anchor?
Id imagine we'd be smashed every game.

Then we push Doucoure into dim. Can’t believe your can’t figure that out.
Onanna can play some good passes , but that’s pretty common in prem midfielders tbh.
The amount of times we find ourselves overloaded while defending is because our midfielders are very bad in possession.
This has a knock on effect when setting tactics as you cannot adopt an ac at king style of play as it is to risky from a defensive point of view because the players give the ball away to often.
Pair that with a lack of pace throughout the team and the inability to get back in time and the lack of awareness to comit professional fouls further up the pitch? Means we struggle to score and leak goals … leaving us at the bottom end of the table
Just image him NOT having to play with docoure …. I hate seeing him play… he literally cannot kick a football cleanly

Garner (as ive said since we were linked) is a good all rounder.. has a bit of everything. You could call him 'all action' in a way and I note the comparisons with Carrick but I see him more of an Owen Hargreaves.
That type of player can play with anyone in midfield.
We then have Onana who has been a defensive midfielder all his career. Someone that both Lampard and now Dyche are playing further up the pitch. They say theyre trying to improve his 'all round game'.
He's robust, big, athletic and can tackle and pass. His stats have had him at the top end for defensive play comparable with the best in the division.
Where we fall apart is having two midfielders who have no positional sense or passing ability. Theyre pure athletes in Doucoure and Gana.
Others have mentioned Gibbs-White and I'd agree that having a player like him would be beneficial.
But the main thing is playing Garner and Onana together in the centre. Then bringing in players to help them. Move on from the Gana / Doucoure 'type' and bring in an attacking playmaker and we'd look a very different proposition.
Just watched motd2 and on wolves goal twice you can see he's fuming with onana for not taking traore down
